Tesla Charging Adapters for CCS or Chademo @tesla @ElectrifyAm

For Tesla owners frustrated by the lack of options when charging their vehicles, it seems things are getting worse.  Here’s an example of what is happening in Pasadena. CA.  Where Pasadena officials are claiming that this EV charging facility is the largest west of the Mississippi.  It has been weeks since the Pasadena Water and Power chargers having been installed and they are still hit and miss, many of the chargers do not appear to work, some have credit card machines, some appear on the Greenlots app.  I attempted to charge a few weeks ago and the charger failed to start. I used on this past weekend and it did charge, although it stopped at approx 80%, which apparently must be part of the design?

What seems like a missed opportunity for the EV community is having the ability for Tesla owners to utilize these underutilized chargers like this one and others around, like the WalMart in Burbank where a week ago I was by and could not use the chargers because they are on CCS capable.  Electrify America made a decision to not support the Chademo charging adapter with only 1 out of 10 chargers supporting the Chademo.  It seems like an oversight on the behalf of those in charge of the initiative and basically managing the $2 billion as part of the settlement with VW.

Perhaps, if those in charge at Electrify America, CEO, Giovanni Palazzo and COO Brendan Jones, worked with Tesla to build adapters for customers to use.

An interview with Electrek has comments closed.   I would very much like to hear from Mr Jones and Mr Palazzo about the reasons for not having Chademo chargers at stations?  It sure seems like an issue for those who drive Nissan Leaf and other EV’s that use the Chedemo.

Timeless AI Insights at the GRAMMYs Changing the Fan Experience
See a new video-enriched experience that leverages IBM AI and Cloud technologies to integrate insights into the GRAMMY Red Carpet livestream

About this Event

The AI LA Community is hosting a special event with IBM after the GRAMMYs!

How do you create timeless AI insights about musical artists for the GRAMMY Awards? Is it possible to analyze hundreds of thousands of pieces of content about artists from over 100,000 sources and turn them into usable insights using cloud computing? And how do you ensure that each artist insight is a fact or substantiated opinion that is accessible during the Red Carpet broadcast and video on demand?

The GRAMMY Awards, hosted by the Recording Academy, is a cultural moment that brings together the biggest artists, celebrities and influencers to celebrate and foster a love of music with the world. Last year, the broadcast reached 43 million people, and GRAMMY.com had 3 million visitors in search of information about their favorite artists.

Once again, IBM is partnering with the Recording Academy to contextualize artists’ experiences at the Grammy Awards with insightful factoids. AI, with the help of Watson Discovery, discovers and reveals human journeys that led to a nomination at the Grammy Awards. Each of the insights will be timeless, unambiguous, interesting and a magnification on any facet of an artist’s life. Now, fans around the world will be able to relate and understand the importance of their favorite celebrity’s accomplishment.

Throughout the 2020 Grammy awards show, we will showcase a new video-enriched experience that leverages IBM AI and Cloud technologies to integrate insights into the GRAMMY Red Carpet livestream. During and after the event, we will also provide Video on Demand content that can be viewed on any device.

Food and drinks will be served.

Super Bowl LIV 2020 54th February 2, 2020

Super Bowl LIV 2020 54th February 2, 2020

Super Bowl 54 is shaping up to be one of the most watched, with the playoffs closing in it could be either AFC Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers vs NFC Tennessee Titans or Green Bay Packers after the Jan 19 playoff games.

As the game nears so does the anticipation of ads, with Trump and Bloomberg scheduled to spend millions in advertising during the game. The half-time show which is as interesting as the game will be Jennifer Lopez and Shakira with the game taking place at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida.
Advertisers include, Kia Motors, GM, Anheuser-Busch, Audi, Coca-Cola, Avocados from Mexico, Facebook, Hyundai, Pop-Tarts, Olay, New York Life, Pringles, Pepsi-SodaStream, Sabra, Snickers, Toyota, Trump, Bloomberg, Turbotax, Porsche, WeatherTech.
Considering each ad costs a minimum of $10 million, do these companies really benefit from this exposure and expense?

With Super Bowl 55 also scheduled to be played in Florida, Los Angeles is scheduled to host Super Bowl 56 at the under construction SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, slated for February 6, 2022, but that date could change. The last time Los Angeles hosted a Super Bowl was in 1993 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Satellite Internet Service Provider – Amazon Kuiper, SpaceX Starlink, Softbank OneWeb

Traditional cable and telco companies are about to get some competition from wireless carriers and satellite operators. The most promising for consumers is SpaceX which is already testing with the dozens of satellites it has already launched. We could see SpaceX Startlink start beta testing with customers in 2020. Amazon is also making serious investments into the low earth orbit services internet business, and then there’s Softbank OneWeb.

SpaceX Starlink

Starlink is targeting service in the Northern U.S. and Canada in 2020, rapidly expanding to near global coverage of the populated world by 2021.

Softbank OneWeb

Amazon: Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
