What Happens With No EV Tax Credit?

There is a lot of speculation as to what will happen now that the EV Tax Credits end on Sept 30, 2025.
Many believe sales will drop significantly and some believe there will be a dip. One thing for is there will be a drop.
How much is anyone’s guess.
Auto companies have seen a spike in EV sales, especially in the past few weeks. In California and Texas as the leading states with sales of EV’s.
There are numerous new EV’s coming to market in the near future with prices being very competitive, we imagine that this could make up for the difference of the EV Tax Credit eliminated by the Trump Administration Big Beautiful Bill of 2025.
We know that Tesla has a new model in the works.
Slate the auto company backed by Jeff Bezos, as well.
New models from Mazda, Nissan, all aim to be very price competitive.
As well as some outliers that are working on new vehicles like the Aptera.
Kia and Hyundai are certain to be working and retooling for lower priced vehicles.

One thing for certain that is buying an EV is not recommended due to some very costly failures that can occur, with the Nissan Leaf the OBC on board charger failure can run around $2,000 to repair. The PCS power conversion system on a Tesla Modem can run around $3,000. This are significant failures that EV’s have and these are not to mention battery issues and that you have to have the ability to charge the vehicle otherwise it’s not very useful and frustrating.
I think we will see a dip in sales after the 30th, and a lot of people who purchased EV’s who are now going to realize that what they bought is not what they imagined and will be trying to offload these vehicles for less than what they paid and well below any tax credits included.

Pasadena Water and Power Launches EngagePWP.org Virtual Engagement Hub to Encourage Public Input

Pasadena Water and Power Launches EngagePWP.org Virtual Engagement Hub to Encourage Public Input

PASADENA, Calif. – As part of its continued commitment to community engagement, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) launched a new virtual platform, EngagePWP.org, designed to foster ongoing dialogue with customers about electric rates, utility programs, incentives, and services. Through this hub and other outreach efforts, PWP continues to explore ideas and shape future offerings based on community input.

The online engagement hub provides a centralized space where residents and businesses can learn more about PWP’s services, access resources, and share their perspectives on topics that impact their daily lives. EngagePWP.org is part of a broader effort to ensure that PWP’s programs continue to reflect the evolving needs and priorities of Pasadena’s diverse community.

“PWP remains committed to listening to our community and staying grounded in the insights we’ve received along the way,” said PWP General Manager David Reyes. “We invite residents and businesses to be part of the process by visiting EngagePWP.org to help ensure our rates, programs, and incentives continue to reflect their needs and priorities.”

Community input opportunities on the engagement hub start with PWP’s electric rate study. In the coming weeks, PWP will expand the hub to include the public comment period for Pasadena’s Optimized Strategic Plan (OSP). The OSP details Pasadena’s path to 100% carbon-free electricity by the end of 2030. In addition to the community input opportunities, EngagePWP.org will provide information regarding upcoming events, contact information and other helpful resources.

“Community feedback plays a vital role in shaping how we evolve our services,” said Reyes. “It will help us continue to provide competitive rates, modern technologies, and clean energy options that align with Pasadena’s long-term goals for equity and sustainability.”

State of Pasadena PWP DC Fast Charging September 15, 2025

Since we are primarily concerned with DC Fast Charging, which Pasadena has close to 50, but the number seems to be dropping.
Currently as of September 11, 2025, the city posted this updated. Which we feel is not accurate based on what is really happening at the locations.

Table II: Status of Public Fast Chargers
Location Total – Offline Chargers
Del Mar Garage 3 3
Marengo Garage 20 9
Arroyo Parkway 6 5
Jackie Robinson Park 5 2
Victory Park 3 3
Shopper’s Lane 8 1
Total 45 23

Even we take the Pasadena numbers above it’s about 50% of the DC Fast Chargers work.
Which even looking today at the PowerFlex app which is not that much difference in time.
Del Mar Garage 1 of 1 open, 3 installed, but I have only seen 2. The third is somewhere in the parking area. , but according to PWP all DC Fast Chargers are offline as of Sept 11, 2025.
Marengo Garage 18 of 24 open, 24 installed?
Arroyo Parkway 2 of 2 open, 6 installed
Jackie Robinson Park 2 of 4 open – 5 installed.
Victory Park 0 showing, 3 installed
Shopper’s Lane 2 of 8 open – 8 installed

These numbers vary wildly from PowerFlex and PWP posted numbers. We do know there are physically installed chargers.
If Tesla had a charger failure rate like PWP we doubt the company would even be around after a few years. The charging network is key to the success of Tesla, and thus they continue to expand.
They are not installing level 2 charging, they are installing fast charging and that which is many times faster than the fast chargers PWP has installed. 50Kw is the bottom if the rung for fast chargers.

Pasadena PD Officer Shoots Other Officer In Police Garage September 7, 2025

In an apparent accidental Pasadena Police Officer to Officer shooting, that took place on Sunday evening, September 7, 2025.   The incident is under investigation.

Apparently the weapon discharged and an officer was injured.

Pasadena PD is already severely short on officers that having them shoot one another is certainly not going to help.

We will see when the investigation is complete as to what occurred. But whatever happened it certainly doesn’t look good especially on a day in the city when there are almost 100k people at the Oasis concert at the Rose Bowl.

And for whatever reason Pasadena PD News and Press Releases have been pretty much non-existent since February of 2025.

See for yourself: https://www.cityofpasadena.net/police/

Shooting in Pasadena At Memorial Park at 4:45pm September 4, 2025

Reports of a shooting at Memorial Park on September 4, 2025 at 4:45. This is one block from Pasadena PD headquarters.

SoundThinking/ShotSpotter which the City of Pasadena still pays hundreds of thousands in fees, was of zero use. This technology is apparently useless for fireworks and now shots. What is probably the case, is that the sensors are not located in the area to pick up the shots.  Apparently the placement of the sensors is not public knowledge or to know what areas are covered, but it is worth requesting the data from PPD.

Campeau added that SoundThinking did not register the incident and no surveillance footage has been located as of Friday morning.

Pasadena PWP DC Fast Chargers Update September 5, 2025

From the latest PWP update on the status of DC Fast Chargers.

This update from August 28, 2025, shows that many of the chargers that are online are actually offline.

Perhaps some changes occurred since the August 28, 2025 update. But we know that Robinson Park has 4 offline and 1 was working.

We still do not know where the third fast charger is at Del Mar, repeated questions has yielded no direct response.

The Marengo Garage numbers are way off and the PowerFlex app shows Chademo chargers that don’t exist.

Table II: Status of Public Fast Chargers
Location Total # of Fast Chargers # of Offline Chargers
Del Mar Garage 3 2
Marengo Garage 20 5
Arroyo Parkway 6 4
Jackie Robinson Park 5 2
Victory Park 3 3
Shopper’s Lane 8 1
Total 45 17
