Pasadena Doo Dah Parade – Sunday, November 18th, 2018 @pasadenadoodah

The Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade will celebrate 41 years of irreverent frolicking on the streets of Pasadena. Join us by getting your FREE general audience tickets here or SIGN UP to be a marcher in the parade!

The 2018 Parade takes place on Sunday, November 18th, stepping off at 11:00 am in East Pasadena along Colorado Boulevard, the original Route 66.

On Doo Dah day, dozens of inventive, if zany, art cars and floats will accompany a legion of revelers past the mom-n-pop shops along East Pasadena’s shady tree-lined streets with a memorable cast of local eccentrics, disruptors, pundits, mutant art cars, lone wolves, steam punks, makers and merrymakers.

Entries are open to everyone. Stay tuned for a list of this year’s lineups.

Yes, another Doo Dah is here to help you forget your humdrum existence!

Known as the twisted sister of the conventional Rose Parade, the Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade began as a grassroots event in 1978 to gain national attention for its eccentric and, often, irreverent satire. The parade which has spawned numerous off-beat replicants across the country was even highlighted in last year’s Wall Street Journal. It was also named by Readers Digest as “America’s Best Parade,” and was recently featured in the book 50 Places You Must Visit Before You Die. To recount the fascinating and confusing history of Pasadena Doo Dah Parade since 1978, please visit our website’s ARCHIVES page. Anyone wishing to participate, visit our website or call!

As you can see the sign on the window shows that the location is opening soon Millies of Silverlake home of good food since 1926 www.MilliesCafeLA.com is the website.

The menu looks amazing, This will surely be a full table service place.  The lines will be long for sure. As the breakfast scene in the area really comes together with some very respectable options.

From their webste:

Millie’s Cafe is Silverlake’s home for good cooking.

Since 1926 Millie’s remains committed to offering the best ingredients prepared by people who actually care.

We use real butter to cook our fresh eggs. We use Altadena dairy products because they don’t give their cows that hormone crap. We don’t even like yellow dye in our cheese, so we get white cheddar. We fresh grind each pot of French roast coffee. Our bread is baked fresh daily. Our juices are fresh from Odwalla.

We do everything the pain in the ass, Old-fashioned way, by hand, from scratch, because there is a difference.

Annual Pasadena Police Foundation Breakfast 2018

Annual Pasadena Police Foundation Breakfast 2018

The Pasadena Police Foundation is hosting its annual breakfast with Pasadena’s Interim Chief of Police, John E. Perez at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena, 3700 East Sierra Madre Blvd.

The event is intended to give residents, members of the business and non-profit community, and friends an opportunity to meet with Interim Chief Perez and hear about the current goals and accomplishments of the Pasadena Police Department (PPD). The Police Foundation’s Annual Breakfast is also an opportunity to see first-hand how the Foundation fulfills its mission to support the planning, development, and implementation of programs and activities of the Department and vital programs such as, the Kids Safety Academy, the Junior Public Safety Academy, the Explorer Program, the Police K-9 Unit and resources to enhance community safety.

Last year the breakfast raised money to fund multiple youth-based community programs and purchase a narcotics search K-9 named Chase. Since Chase’s arrival in 2017, he has recovered narcotics and cash in excess of one million dollars. We also honored Officer Darrin Craddolph with the 2017 Myron Yanish Officer of the Year Award for his impressive community outreach, and Jennifer Mendez with the Bernard K. Melekian Outstanding Youth Award for her efforts toward a career in law enforcement.

This year we are raising funds for the purchase of a van to support the PPD Police Explorer program. This van will provide transportation for the Explorers to various activities and events, including assisting law enforcement at multiple large-scale City events. The Explorer program is for youth ages 14-21 and provides an environment for youth and young adults to work with officers, build life skills and self-reliance, and the possibility of a career in law enforcement. The Pasadena Police Explorer program currently has over 40 young people who are active in civic engagement, public service, and leadership roles within the community.
