Team Affiliate Marketers Worldwide, led by Captain Missy Ward, will be taking to the streets with their “feets” during the 2008 Seattle Breast Cancer 3-day. It’s a 60-mile walk over the course of three days that raises money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
There are a number of fundraising promotions going on including the sales of “Affiliate Marketers Give Back” limited edition clothing line, a T-shirt sponsorship, and more. Additional information on the team lineup can be found at AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com .
Missy just also announced the “Give Back and Save” fundraising promotion. It’s a great way to make a tax-deductible donation to a great charity and get a free exhibit hall pass or an additional discount of up to $500 on a full conference pass to Affiliate Summit Boston. And, that’s on top of the ABW Member Discount!
Now through July 31, 2008, when you make a $50, $100, $250 or $500 donation in support of the walk, you will receive a discount coupon in that same amount, valid off your registration at Affiliate Summit 2008 East in Boston.
Give Back and Save is a great way to support your fellow Affiliate Marketers as they raise funds to fight Breast Cancer and save some bucks at the same time.
How to Donate:
Visit https://www.60-milewalk.com and click on your preferred walker. Make your donation of either $50, $100, $250 or $500.

United Online Buys FTD
Woodland Hills-based United Online said this morning that it has agreed to acquire FTD Group, Inc, in a deal worth approximately $800M. FTD is a provider of floral and related products. According to the firms, United Online will pay $7.34 in cash plus 0.4087 shares of Untied Online common stock, plus $3.31 in secured notes, for each share of FTD common stock.
According to the companies, the deal will create a firm with combined revenues of $1,145M. The firms said that the acquisition of FTD will provide United Online with significant increase in scale, diversification from United Online’s revenue streams, and ability to expand market opportunities. The shift comes as United Online looks to shift from its major businesses–its dial-up NetZero and Juno Internet access services.
According to the firm, after the acquisition, the dial-up business will represent less than 25% of the firm’s total revenue. FTD is best known for its flower delivery services, which dispatches flower delivery orders to local florists. It also operates the Interflora brand. United Online was advised by J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in the deal; FTD was advised by Goldman, Sachs & Co., and Latham & Watkins LLP.

“Pasadena has shelved its plans for a citywide Wi-Fi network
after EarthLink pulled out of its contractual obligations to
build one for the city. EarthLink has done the same to a
number of other cities (and surprisingly I have not heard one
of them suing EarthLink for breach of contract).”
Pasadena should take some action. The city needs wifi to be more widespread. The problem is how do they monetize.
