Nissan LEAF hacked.
If the whole debacle over the battery capacity of the Nissan LEAF was not enough, now comes word that the Nissan LEAF can be hacked.
Apparently the companion app is not secure, allowing anyone with basic hacking skills to scan and retrieve user account and password and then control the LEAF. Including turning on and off the AC and downloading trip information.
This seems like a serious issue for Nissan and should be dealt with immediately.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, in terms of when a fix will be released that is still undetermined.

The City of Burbank has scheduled a community meeting for residents to share what attributes they’d like to see in the person selected to fill the city’s top executive position.
Burbank City Council is currently looking for a permanent replacement for former City Manager Mark Scott who left the City earlier this month. Under a council-manager form of government, council appoints a city manager to administer municipal operations, including the city budget and the oversight of city staff.
Council has retained executive search firm Avery and Associates to identify qualified candidates for the position. As part of the recruitment process, the City Council wants to engage the community and hear directly from citizens. So, Avery and Associates will host a community meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Room 104 in the Community Services Building at 150 N. Third St. in Burbank.
The City Council anticipates applications for city manager will be accepted beginning in April and that it may take four months for a permanent city manager to be named.
For those who would like to offer feedback and cannot attend the forum, and for those who would like to receive future information regarding the city manager recruitment, please contact (818) 238-5840.

Gas prices are in the midst of a spike, and if the 30 cent hike expected by this weekend is not enough, expect further price hikes as the summer blend is distributed to stations starting April 1, 2016. We could see prices in the $3/gallon range in the next couple of months or sooner.

Fall of 2016, Porto’s Bakery and Cafe will be bringing their world-famous pastries, sandwiches and specialty beverages to Buena Park. Named the 2015 Best Restaurant in the United States by Yelp, the family owned and operated Cuban bakery will soon open their first location in Orange County. This will be their fourth location in Southern California and it promises to be the biggest and best one yet.
The bakery’s delicious desserts are complemented only by an even richer history that began when the Porto family moved from their home in Manzanillo, Cuba to California in the 1960’s. Shortly after arriving in the United States, Rosa Porto began to sell her pastries out of a small 300 square foot location in Los Angeles. The bakery was an instant success that would eventually lead the family to open locations in Glendale, Burbank and Downey.
