NEWS RELEASE A MESSAGE FROM PASADENA POLICE CHIEF PHILLIP L. SANCHEZ This afternoon, I informed Pasadena City Manager Steve Mermell that I will be retiring from my position as the Chief of Police, effective April 18th, 2018. The decision to step away from serving my community is a difficult one which took much deliberation and careful thought. For the past eight years I have had the honor of leading one of the nation’s finest law enforcement agencies, comprised of heroic men and women who serve with distinction in keeping our city safe. Putting on the Pasadena Police Uniform everyday has truly been a humbling experience. I am proud of the progress we have made as an agency during my tenure. We implemented various new technologies into our policing abilities including the Body Worn Camera program and enhanced community outreach with the Community Police Academy in both English and Spanish. We have increased the diversity of the Police Department to reflect the community it serves, all the while enhancing our responses to terror threats at large events, while working hard to deliver exceptional police service. My wife, Deborah, and I are blessed to have a large family and after a 38 year career in law enforcement, I look forward to spending time with all of them in the years ahead. I want to offer my sincere thanks to Mayors Bill Bogaard and Terry Tornek; to the members of the Pasadena City Council, to City Managers Michael Beck and Steve Mermell; and most of all, to the outstanding men and women of the Pasadena Police Department who will continue to serve this city with honor and humility. Thank you for allowing me to serve the City of Pasadena.

(Los Angeles, CA), Tuesday, February 12^th, 2018: Come celebrate and be part of the 3^rd Annual Masters of Taste, L.A.’s premier outdoor, luxury food and beverage festival that will take place on Sunday, May 6^th, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the field of the Historic Pasadena Rose Bowl!

Masters of Taste 2018 will bring over 2,500 food and beverage enthusiasts together from all over Greater Los Angeles for one afternoon to celebrate this exhilarating festival, which will include the finest fare from over 40 Culinary Masters and restaurants, delectable sweets prepared by L.A.’s top Sweet Masters, top Beverage Masters who will be featuring signature handcrafted cocktail tastings from 25 spirit brands and bars, a premier 50 yard-line cocktail bar featuring top Mixologists from four of L.A.’s most distinguished drinking destinations, select wineries, local craft breweries, cold-pressed juices cold brew coffee, live entertainment and much, much more.

100% of the proceeds from Masters of Taste 2018 will directly benefit Union Station Homeless Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to helping homeless men, women and children rebuild their lives. Union Station is part of a premier group of human services agencies in Los Angeles County that are leading the way to end homelessness in our community and offers an array of services including street outreach, meals, shelter, housing, case management and career development. In the last two years Masters of Taste has raised nearly $1 Million in support of Union Station’s life-saving programs

Your Consumer Ticket includes: Unlimited access to approximately 125 wineries from 50+ California appellations pouring over 35 varietals and over 500 different wines; commemorative wine glass; a great variety of cheeses, breads and crackers. Wine orders may be placed at this tasting, to be shipped from the winery. Many wineries will be offering special pricing on shipping and/or select wines. No wine may leave the building since state law and ABC rules prohibit free gifts of alcohol.

One thread weaves through this tasting — a desire to bring you the best wines. This tasting is about the breadth of wineries from across the state, an enormous range of varietals, and wine growing appellations from all over the state. All Family Winemakers tastings focus on wineries that are small (generally under 5000 cases), have limited marketing outreach, and will be represented by family members. There will be wineries at this event pouring with Family Winemakers for the first time. It’s an opportunity to expand your palate. You can sample new releases from your classic favorites and from wineries just selling their first vintages. CHECK out varietals you’ve never heard of or your best-loved Cabs and Chardonnays. This well-respected tasting is a once-a-year opportunity to tour and taste California’s wine country under one place.
