The Burbank Fire Department, in conjunction with the Burbank Fire Corps Volunteer Program, will be offering a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning in March.

CERT classes are part of a national FEMA and Citizen Corps program designed to enhance community resiliency in the time of a significant emergency.  CERT classes give students the basic information and practical skills to prepare for an emergency, mitigate household hazards and if needed, to provide basic levels of care for themselves, their family and their neighbors during the initial hours following a significant emergency.

Upon completion of the CERT classes, students can either retain this information for their own personal benefit or become a registered Disaster Services Worker Volunteer with an organized CERT or Emergency Services Volunteer program (such as the Burbank Fire Corps Program) within their community.

CERT classes offered by Burbank are open to the general public and students do NOT need to be a Burbank resident to participate.  The class is taught over four non-consecutive Saturdays beginning on March 28^th.
