Magnolia House South Lake Sidewalk Dining Pasadena @maghousepas @626food @SouthLakeAvenue

Magnolia House known for their mac ‘n cheese, bread pudding and great drinks is working on offering outdoor sidewalk dining service.  This is a welcome addition as Summer approaches and people like to sit outside and people watch and enjoy the outdoors. It should also be good news for people with dogs, as the seating will most likely be dog friendly, or we hope it will be.

MagnoliaHouseSidewalkDiningPermit2

The notice of hearing has been posted and is scheduled for May 31, 2016 at 2pm.

MagnoliaHouseSidewalkDiningPermit5

Alcohol will be served in the area. Propane heaters are not going to be used(which will make it a little chilly on nights when it cools).

Pasadena City Manager Search 50 Applicants @passtarnews @pasadenagov

According to the Pasadena Star News the search firm for Pasadena contracted to recruit for the vacated Pasadena City Manager position previously held by Mr. Michael Beck reached 50 applicants at the deadline of May 13, 2016.

The Pasadena City Manager position described here on the Bob Murray and Associates website, includes information about the City of Pasadena and benefits of the position.

The current Interim City Manager Mr. Steve Mermell has applied as one of the candidates to be considered.  Mr. Mermell has worked for the City of Pasadena for 27 years most recently as Assistant City Manager under Michael Beck and presently the Interim City Manager.

According to Mayor Tornek residents will have an opportunity to participate in some fashion when the candidates are narrow down, which should be sometime in mid-June.

Mr. Beck left in February after a costly long drawn city funds UUT embezzlement, and a variety of management issues within various departments, including health department, public works, police and fire. Yet the new position for Mr. Beck at UCLA puts him in charge of the departments he had difficulty with in Pasadena.

Hopefully the next City Manager will have the skills and personality to communicate with the residents and city staff.

More details should be available in June as candidates are reviewed and narrowed down.

A message from Scott Sanborn, President and Acting CEO @lendingclub

Message from Scott Sanborn – Acting President and CEO of Leanding Club. Received 9pm Thursday May 19, 2016.

============================================
Hello,

I’m Scott Sanborn, President and acting CEO of Lending Club. I’ve been on Lending Club’s leadership team for the past six years as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and describe our current focus.

Individual investors like you are – and will always be – the foundation of our marketplace.

Given recent events, my immediate focus is on how Lending Club can best serve you – our investors. We’ve talked to hundreds of our investors – spanning individuals to financial advisors to banks to large institutions – over the past week about the strength of our business, our operations, our people, and our data integrity. Let me assure you that we are in a strong financial position with a substantial amount of cash and securities on our balance sheet – $868 million. We plan to be around for many years to come.

The performance of loans facilitated through the platform remains robust. We continue to service and process borrower payments just like we always have, and the interest and principal payments that borrowers make will continue to be passed on to you just as they were before.

We’re extremely proud of the products we’re providing to both borrowers and investors, and I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months and years about our company and our results.

I’m not working alone. Our Executive Team has been working together for the past six years and has deep expertise in credit, operations, marketing, finance, human resources and technology. We’re also supported by one of the strongest Board of Directors in the industry. It includes Hans Morris (former President of Visa and now our Executive Chairman), Larry Summers (former US Treasury Secretary), John Mack (former CEO of Morgan Stanley), Mary Meeker (a Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers) and other experienced executives.

I will continue to keep you informed as we move ahead. In the meantime, feel free to contact our team with questions and suggestions at (888) 596-3159 7am-5pm PT, Monday through Friday, or email us anytime at investing@lendingclub.com.

Thank you for investing with us. I look forward to having you as an investor for years to come.

Sincerely,
ScottSignature

Scott Sanborn
Lending Club President & Acting CEO

=====================================================================

P2P financial lending and borrowing appears to be in a crises. How these companies re-invent themselves to deal with this is yet to be seen. With Lending Club as one of the leaders having gone through this shake-up it will leave the big banks with proof that their model is best.  Investors can make decent returns, but as there is no federal insurance, and not knowing how your loans are secured and the default rates can be high,  One of the challenges with a platform like Lending Club is having access to your money and the ability to withdraw funds from your account, If say you invest $1000 and you put the money in 10 leans of $1,000, not all the loans are maturing at the same time, now take this as it really occurs in your account and you have maybe 500 loans, at $25 each. If you are lucky it could take you years to get withdraw your money.

CaliBurger is opening in Pasadena.
The location in the Paseo  Colorado where Gelson’s Market recently opened as the Rose Theater, other improvements to the Paseo are in the works including a Hyatt Place Hotel which was previously occupied by Macy’s.
From the story in the LA Weekly, the Pasadena CaliBurger will be located inside the Rose Theater.
CaliBurger is a welcome addition to the area.

CaliBurger is a 21st century revival of the classic California burger joint!

With locations worldwide, the Pasadena location will be one of the first in California.
245 E Green Street
 Pasadena CA 91101
From the press release:
It will open its first restaurant in the state where the business was conceptualized.  The store will be opened in Pasadena this coming January, at the corner of Green Street and Marengo (former home of Gelson’s Supermarket), across from Starbucks and the Convention Center and adjacent to a newly opened concert hall.  The launch of the brand in Southern California will follow recent openings in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia.  New store openings in early 2016 across North America will also take place in Maryland, Toronto, Beverly Hills, Vancouver, and Houston.

For an indefinite period of time, burger lovers will only be able to try CaliBurger Pasadena by making reservations through the CaliBurger App for mobile ordering and interactive gaming, which will be available in App stores in January.

Customers can be the first to experience CaliBurger’s Pasadena location by making reservations through the CaliBurger App for mobile ordering and interactive gaming, which is available for download from app stores. This is in response to overwhelming crowds during CaliBurger openings in other North American markets.  The CaliBurger mobile-ordering and reservation app is the first of its kind for a fast-casual burger concept in the U.S.
