Public Fruit Jam with Fallen Fruit
Sunday, August 10, 11am to 2pm
Make jam and make friends!
Join us for a fun and friendly, fruit-filled Sunday Funday with a Fallen Fruit Public Jam Session on Sunday, August 10 from 11am – 2pm!
This is Fallen Fruits’ first Public Jam in two years! It will be a perfectly sweet afternoon of making jam with pals new and old. This is a great social and community-building event for kids, adults, families and even first dates.
Bring home-grown or picked public fruit and join jam teams of 3 to 5 people. You’ll work with folks you may not have met before to make your jam. The ingredients can be anything you bring along. Fallen Fruit encourages exploring experimental jams, such as basil guava or lemon pepper jelly. Almost all fruits can be jammed, even bananas – if you dare!
Drop by anytime between 11am – 2pm for the jam session. Each session runs approximately 45 minutes from cutting to preserving. Fallen Fruit staffers will be on hand to help out. In the end, you will have jam to keep, swap and contribute to the communal tasting table where you can enjoy the fruits of your labors. And who knows – you may also leave with a new Jam Session BFF!
Make jam. Make friends.
Join Fallen Fruit for a collaborative event in which the public comes together for a communal jam making session. Bring home-grown or self-picked, public fruit and any clean, empty glass jars you have. You’ll join jam teams of 3 to 5 people and work with people you have not met before to make your jam. The ingredients can be anything you bring along. Almost all fruits can be jammed, even bananas- if you dare!
About Fallen Fruit:
Fruit exists in all cultures, within all social classes and has rich symbolism in art and cultural ceremony. In theme and variation, Fallen Fruit’s work focuses on using fruit as a way to advance dialogues about cities, property, ecology, community and citizenship. Fallen Fruit uses fruit as a common denominator to expand the way you see the world.
Conceived in 2004 by David Burns, Matias Viegener and Austin Young, Fallen Fruit is a collaborative art project that began in Los Angeles with the group’s mapping of Public Fruit, fruit from trees growing on or over public property. Since 2013, David and Austin have continued Fallen Fruit’s collaborative work. Fallen Fruit projects include photographic portraits, experimental documentary videos, public art installations and curatorial projects. Their work has spawned and inspired events around the world.

Rounds Premium Burgers–Pasadena
In 2011, brothers George and Charbel Ghaby became business partners as well as siblings when they opened the first Rounds Premium Burgers. The concept for their joint venture was simple: a classic, American, build-your-own-burger stand that combined quality meats with surprising toppings. The idea caught on, and the burger joint soon spread to multiple locations, gathering awards as it went. Recently Rounds won Best New Restaurant in Pasadena Weekly’s Best of Pasadena 2013, and it also secured top honors on a Best in Chow episode titled “Best Burger in Hollywood”.
Rounds take the concept of customization to the next level. Diners can choose from four types of patties ranging from fresh-ground chuck to a homemade veggie burger. From there, they can pick from 10 types of sauce (thousand island, chipotle aioli, jalapeno ranch amongst them), six premium cheeses (American, pepper jack, bleu cheese crumbles), and 16 extra toppings, ranging from classics like bacon and grilled onion to surprises such as peanut butter and jelly and grilled pineapple. Then, the only thing left to do in choose what holds the whole delicious meal together. Traditionalists can pick a fresh classic, wheat, or pretzel bun, while those with dietary restrictions might prefer to have their burger wrapped in lettuce or stuffed inside an envelope and mailed to their nutritionist along with a break-up letter.
In a Nutshell
Customers build their own burgers, choosing from a selection of four patties, 10 sauces, six cheeses, and 16 toppings

Soofa Solar Power Park Bench
This is a great example of the maker movement. A startup establishing itself in Boston, but this could move quickly.
The portion where the USB ports are, is printed on a 3D printer.
When a park bench cost thousands of dollars, why not spend a little more and build in a solar panel charging station.
Soofa is a woman owned company.
