Verizon Discouraging Customers From Buying iPhone

Verizon Discouraging Customers From Buying iPhone

We are getting reports from customers of Verizon that when they go to Verizon stores they are being discouraged from buying the iPhone. Does anyone know what this about?

Do Verizon salespeople get paid less commission than when they sell the iPhone so they are pushing the HTC, Droid, Blackberry phones?

One of the comments we have heard:

“you can’t take the battery out”

“you have to signup for iTunes in order to use the phone”

“if you need to reset the phone, you have to take it to Apple”

“Verizon stores can’t help you if you have a problem”

Most of these sound like bad excuses to give customers.

Richie Sambora Donates 100 Guitars to USA Fighting Forces – Voyage-Air

Voyage-Air News:
Richie Sambora on the Access Hollywood TV Show

‘Bon Jovi’ Rocker Gives 100 Voyage-Air Guitars to Active Military!

Earlier this year, Richie Sambora, world famous guitar-slinger of ‘Bon Jovi’ was given a Voyage-Air Guitar as a birthday gift.

Richie realized that this full-size guitar – because it folds – is a perfect way to bring music to our fighting forces.

Richie decided to personally purchase 100 guitars from Voyage-Air, and then set up a website where active military could register for a chance to win one of these breakthrough instruments. Recently, he began distributing them to the lucky winners.

Yesterday, Richie appeared on the TV show “Access Hollywood LIVE” – we were able to get a part of that clip: and you can click to see it below:

This Friday, August 19, Richie Sambora meets with the troops at Camp Pendleton Marine Base in Southern California, to personally thank our fighting forces for their bravery and sacrifice… and to deliver dozens of these 100 revolutionary guitars, all personally signed by Richie.

The NBC TV Shows “Access Hollywood” and ” EXTRA!” will be onsite with cameras rolling – check your local listings for the exact time of the show.

We’ll have more info and pictures next week… stay tuned!

Sincerely,

The Voyage-Air Guitar Team

Monster.com, employers are allowed to prevent anyone who is currently unemployed from applying for a job
Tell Monster.com: Stop discriminating against the unemployed

Sign the Petition

Dear Victor,

On Monster.com, employers are allowed to prevent anyone who is currently unemployed from applying for a job.

It’s cruel to the millions of Americans out of work — but you can put an end to it this week.

Kelly Wiedemer, who lost her job in 2008, has launched a campaign demanding that Monster.com ban these discriminatory ads.  Please click here to sign Kelly’s petition.

A nationwide backlash against the company, which treasures its reputation as a website that helps people find jobs, will force Monster.com to act.

Please sign the petition today asking Monster.com to stop discriminating against the unemployed.

Thanks for being a changemaker,

– Jess and the Change.org team

[LA Food Swap] Registration open for September swap!

[LA Food Swap] Registration open for September swap!

LA Food Swap

You are invited to attend:

LA Food Swap

Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 10:00 AM12:00 PM

Join us for a food swap + potluck at Silver Lake Farms!

Share your edible creations and meet your neighbors among the flowers and vegetables at this beautiful urban farm

What

A food swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your homemade, homegrown, and foraged creations become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants. Diversify your pantry while meeting your friends and neighbors!

Who

We welcome everyone, as long as you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself. You must pre-register to attend. If you plan to bring a family member or friend who will be swapping their own foods, please register them separately. If they’re just coming to hang out and observe, they don’t need to register.

When

Saturday, September 3, 2011, 10 am – 12 pm (+ potluck after)

Please arrive promptly at 10 am to set up.

Where

Silver Lake Farms, Los Angeles, CA 90039

Exact location and parking instructions will be sent to registered attendees.

What to bring

• Food to swap: All swap items must be homemade, homegrown, or foraged by you. Think pickles, preserves, baked goods, honey, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices… you name it! Bring as little or as much as you like. You can bring a bunch of one thing or multiples of a few different things. The possibilities are endless!

Keep in mind that swappers will be examining and picking up your goods, so be sure to package them in a way that protects the food and makes it clear the amounts you want to swap. When applicable, it is recommended that you include storage and shelf life information.

If possible, you should also bring samples for others to try.

Swap card: Bring one swap card for each different item you’re swapping. For example, if you’re bringing 5 jars of strawberry jam, 5 jars of apricot jam, and 10 bunches of rosemary, fill out 1 card for the strawberry jam, 1 card for the apricot jam, and 1 card for the rosemary.

You can download the swap card here. Please fill out the top part only (Who, What, Notes).

• Potluck dish: If you’d like to stay for the potluck – and we hope you will! – please bring one dish to share plus your own plate, cup, and utensils. We’ll provide a delicious agua fresca!

The Honor Code

This is a community event; however, participants must pre-register. It goes without saying that participants are using the highest cleanliness standards in their own kitchens and gardens to prepare their submissions. Nevertheless…

• By participating in this event, you are acknowledging that the food items being traded are not necessarily prepared in any “approved” kitchen or space inspected by any government agency.

• By participating in this event, you are also acknowledging that you will use the highest standards of cleanliness in food preparation.
