State Farm Brings Its Band to TV

State Farm Brings Its Band to TV

‘La Banda Del Pueblo’ Will Follow Los Felinos From Commercial Casting Call to L.A. Concert

August 28, 2009

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — It all started as a carefully scripted branded-entertainment project last year with the premise that three aspiring Mexican musicians met at a casting call for a State Farm Insurance commercial and formed a band called Los Felinos with the insurance company’s support. Now State Farm is sending the band out into the real world, or at least the world of reality TV, by backing an eight-episode show that traces their story from novice band to somewhat seasoned performers overcoming challenges along the road from Miami to Los Angeles. La Canada Fire Update

UPDATE 8.28.09 – 1:30PM
La Canada Fire has jumped the highway 2.
over 1500 acres burned
no mandatory evacuations yet, only voluntary, but there are some areas threatened. Only 10% containment.
If you are in the voluntary evacuation area of La Canada go to:
La Canada High School
4463 Oak Grove Drive

Over 700 firefighters are on scene battling the La Canada fire.

– 1:30pm 8.28.09 :I can see a water dropping helicopter heading to the scene of the La Canada Fire now.

The Station Fire above La Canada Flintridge in Angeles Forest has grown to 300 acres & has been downgraded to only 10% contained.

The smoke can be seen from miles away.

It looks like the winds are starting to pickup.

Here’s a video shot from a nearby resevoir where helicopters are picking up water for their drops.

L.A. Firefighters getting water from the Haines Canyon Flood Control Basin here in Tujunga, CA. They were fighting a brush fire just east of us above La Canada-Flintridge. This is just up the street from my home at a trailhead to Angeles National Forest. A neighbor and I walked up to see them do their thing. Very exciting!!

Meanwhile the fire in Azusa continues to burn, with limited containment.
