Meeting Description: This event, organized by the Long Beach 5th district Solar Task Force, is worth attending.
There will be speakers on various topics and a solar tour on a bus, on your own, or on your bike. There will also be some information tables with information about solar companies and organizations that are promoting solar.

Here is the schedule of speakers:

This Saturday is the Solar Energy Conference and Home Tour which is an all-day event where you can learn about the benefits of solar energy.

Here is a list of what’s taking place at the conference:

9:30 – Opening Session: Hear opening remarks from Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske and Mayor Bob Foster, followed by a presentation on LEED Certification by Lance Williams of the US Green Building Council.

The event runs from 9am to 430pm.

The taskforce meets every month to work on ways to make the city of Long Beach more solar friendly. They are currently drafting a solar policy for the city and have organized this tour. The meeting are open to the public and the next one is on May 19 at the Park and Rec building on Studebaker.

Please note that I will not be able to attend this event (but I’d really like to) so please meet at 9am in front of the Park and Rec building if you’d like to meet other poeple in the group, and then walk over to the expo together.

Pasadena WIFI Dead?

“Pasadena has shelved its plans for a citywide Wi-Fi network
after EarthLink pulled out of its contractual obligations to
build one for the city. EarthLink has done the same to a
number of other cities (and surprisingly I have not heard one
of them suing EarthLink for breach of contract).”

Pasadena should take some action. The city needs wifi to be more widespread. The problem is how do they monetize.
