This morning I went out to be a volunteer victim at the Agoura Library for my friends Jeffrey and Ellen Naumann. Getting there this morning at 9am was challenging as the 101 west was closed at Tampa Ave. Traffic was a nightmare. It took me about 2 hours to get there.
The CERT program is designed as a Community Emergency Response Training, part of the FEMA program. Many cities have custom programs. Like Pasadena where I live they have the PERT program which is very thorough.

The final class where the class had a mock emergency event where volunteer victims played the parts of having various injuries and the various search and rescue teams had to come in to the area/room and do a triage. I had a broken left leg and could not walk, also my pulse was slow and I was slow to respond to questions.
The drill lasted about an hour and then the teams received certificates of completion and a kit to use, included a backpack with helmet, flashlight, first aid kit, vest and various other items.
I would like to do this program as well as the Red Cross Program.
After the class we went out to eat at Adobe Cantina.

I had halibut fish tacos. Pretty good.
After that we went on a short hike at the Peter Straus Ranch off Mullhuland. Interesting on the walk to the Ranch we saw a bunch of parakets in a neighborhod of Agoura Hills.

South Pasadena, CA – McKay Hatch, is the founder of South Pasadena High School’s No Cussing Club.
This week is No Cussing week in South Pasadena.
Wednesday at the South Pasadena City Council meeting Mayor Michael Cacciotti issued a proclamation declaring the first week of March to be No Cussing Week.

Congrats to McKay Hatch on forming a group of over 10,000 kids
Reports this morning of a landslide blocking parts of Sepulveda Blvd. The landslide caused traffic gridlock on both Sepulveda and the 405.
It could be hours before the road opens.

There was a landslide in the area of Sepulveda and Montana. LAPD, LAFD, DOT & DWP are at scene. The area has been secured primarily due to live/exposed electrical wires. The scene of the landslide is a construction zone and there are no reports of evacuations nor are there reports of homes affected.
At this time the hillside remains in a state of movement and LAFD expects Sepulveda Blvd to remain closed between Sunset Bl. and Montana Ave. for another 10-12 hours. LAFD has ‘red tagged’ several homes affected by the landslide. The landslide has damaged an area power line, causing power outages to residences in the immediate area. Initial reports indicate the landslide was caused by a water main break, although it is now believed that excessive rainfall from previous storms dislodged the hillside and contributed to the slide. No injuries have been immediately reported. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes around the area and to expect heavy delays on I-405, which runs parallel to Sepulveda Blvd in the vicinity of the slide.
