Tehachapi Area:
Hello Friends!
The calendar says it’s springtime but the Tehachapi weather pattern the past few months has us locals thinking otherwise!  The unusually cool temperatures have delayed the onset of blossom in the orchards, which will translate into a later than normal harvest season this year.  We will keep you posted about the apple crop in a later email as we get closer to the fall season.
The exciting news we’d like to share with you now is a ‘heads up’ announcement of the first harvest of our new cherry orchard.  Three years ago we planted two varieties of cherry trees:  Lapin and Rainier.  Our first crop on the young trees should be ready for picking in late June or early July.  The Lapins are large red cherries while the Rainiers are yellow with a red blush.  Both varieties are delightfully sweet and firm.  The orchard will be available for u-pick and a subsequent email will announce the exact dates and times.  Our website will provide all pertinent information.
We look forward to your visiting our inaugural cherry picking season this summer.  Richard and Barbara Tieskoetter

Dear Friends,

The weather this May has been very cool, and our cherries are still green. However, we are expecting warmer weather in the

coming days, and the cherries should start ripening. It is still too early to set our opening date, but it will be either June 12, or June 19.

We will send further updates and let you know as soon as we know.

Also, we will send your coupon for free cherries with the final email announcing our opening date.

We know that you are all anxious to pick cherries, and we thank you for your patience.

See you soon!

Who We Are
Nestled at 3200 ft.in beautiful Leona Valley California, where the climate is perfect for growing the finest cherries, lies 5 Star Ranch. Owned and operated by the Alpern family, Dan, Lisa, and kids Eric, Shannon and Scott, 5 Star Ranch provides to all the experience of picking fresh, ripe cherries right from the tree. 5 Star Ranch never uses sprays or pesticides, so our cherries are just as nature intended them.

The Leona Valley U-Pick Experience
Just 60 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles is peaceful Leona Valley. As you enter the valley, you will be greeted with the sight of bison, cattle, and horses grazing in the fields. There are many cherry ranches here, and June is the month for picking. At your arrival, you will be greeted at the gates of the ranch at our stand, and provided with containers for your cherries. The orchard rules will be explained to you, and you will then be free to meander through the orchard picking cherries from the trees. When you are finished picking, go back to the stand where your cherries will be weighed and bagged. Our U-Pick prices are generally lower than the cost of store bought cherries. Feel free to relax in our shaded picnic area, visit another orchard, or drive home taking with you bags of tree ripened fruit and an unforgettable experience.

5 Star Ranch is located at 40109 90th St. West Leona Valley, CA 93551.
