The RVIP Lounge is a mobile karaoke bar housed in a renovated Winnebago that provides free transportation and all night rockage at conferences and festivals including South by Southwest, TED, and AFI Fest. It is run by a group of friends based in Los Angeles, led by actress and musician Kestrin Pantera, product manager and startup founder Jonathan Grubb, and Walt Disney Imagineering CTO Scott Watson. For location updates, follow @rviplounge on Twitter.
The 2011 SXSW lounge is presented by Foursquare, Get Satisfaction, Andreessen Horowitz, and Wired Magazine. We have a newly renovated and customized RV, and a new exterior decor that will make it approximately one million times more visually stunning than previous years.
We’re also introducing a competiiton: The RVIP SXSW 4-Way Karaoke Showdown
The Contenders:
East Coast Startups, represented by Foursquare
West Coast Startups, represented by Get Satisfaction
The Investors, represented by Andreessen Horowitz
The Press, represented by Wired
When guests enter the RV, they’ll to choose a team (East, West, Investors, or Press). Karaoke performances and general ability to “bring it” will earn points for their team on the Karaoke Showdown Leaderboard. Points will be awarded by the audience based on performance, song selection, dedication, and creativity. For our Monday night closing ceremony, contenders are invited to give a finale performance.
