iOS 11 Updates Slow or Not Responding #ios11 #ios11update

If you are trying to update your Apple iOS devices, like the iPad or iPhone, get ready to experience some delays or blank screens.

The update process is slow and servers are slow to respond or unresponsive.

Around 10am PST on 9/19/17 the updates started to roll out. But as of 11AM PST there have been countless reports of trouble with downloading the update. iOS 11 as described by Apple last week is a major update filled with new features.

Are there workarounds to the download?  The best workaround to download iOS 11 is to connect to a computer and download and update using iTunes.

Here’s the notes on the release.

 Join us for an afternoon of discovery as we explore the past, present and future of astronomy at the Carnegie Observatories. This year we connect Carnegie Observatories then and now, celebrating the upcoming 100th anniversary of first light on the 100-inch Hooker telescope at Mt. Wilson.

We are expecting large numbers this year and parking is limited. Please consider taking public transit. The Observatories is a 10 minute walk from the Lake Metro Goldline station. There is ample free parking at the Sierra Madre Villa station. Lyft/Uber might also be a good option.

Almost daily, the media report incidents of malicious interference with computer systems, ranging from simple pranks, stealing personal data, industrial espionage, ransomware, and corrupting databases, all the way to disabling major utilities. There is clear demand for technologies that help detect, block, and recover from the effects all sorts of attacks. The October 2017 session of the Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum will be devoted to identifying entrepreneurial opportunities for providing tools to combat cyber threats. We will focus on market segments, what it takes to establish credibility as a small company, and what types of strategic alliances with larger companies can be used to overcome the challenges of starting and operating an emerging company capable of developing and selling leading edge security technology to large and potentially very conservative customers.
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Stan Stahl, president of Citadel Information Group and SecureTheVillage. Dr. Stahl’s cybersecurity career extends from his in-the-trenches security engineering work nearly 40 years ago to protect our nuclear missile arsenal to his community leadership today creating cybersecurity culture. Dr. Stahl will give us an overview of cybersecurity from the perspective of the need different classes of buyers have for new cybersecurity products and services. What Should You Do After Equifax Breach Hack of 2017

Equifax has established a dedicated website, www.equifaxsecurity2017.com, to help consumers determine if their information has been potentially impacted and to sign up for credit file monitoring and identity theft protection. The offering, called TrustedID Premier, includes 3-Bureau credit monitoring of Equifax, Experian and TransUnion credit reports; copies of Equifax credit reports; the ability to lock and unlock Equifax credit reports; identity theft insurance; and Internet scanning for Social Security numbers – all complimentary to U.S. consumers for one year. The website also provides additional information on steps consumers can take to protect their personal information. Equifax recommends that consumers with additional questions visit www.equifaxsecurity2017.com or contact a dedicated call center at 866-447-7559 (Click here for an important update on call times due to Hurricane Irma), which the company set up to assist consumers. The call center is open every day (including weekends) from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. Eastern time.

In addition to the website, Equifax will send direct mail notices to consumers whose credit card numbers or dispute documents with personal identifying information were impacted. Equifax also is in the process of contacting U.S. state and federal regulators and has sent written notifications to all U.S. state attorneys general, which includes Equifax contact information for regulator inquiries.

Dear Mr. President –
Congratulations on a remarkable run. Millions have placed their hopes in you, and all of us, regardless of party, should hope for expanded prosperity and security during your tenure.
This is a unique office, without a clear blueprint for success, so I don’t know that any advice from me will be particularly helpful. Still, let me offer a few reflections from the past 8 years.
First, we’ve both been blessed, in different ways, with great good fortune. Not everyone is so lucky. It’s up to us to do everything we can (to) build more ladders of success for every child and family that’s willing to work hard.
Second, American leadership in this world really is indispensable. It’s up to us, through action and example, to sustain the international order that’s expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War, and upon which our own wealth and safety depend.
Third, we are just temporary occupants of this office. That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions — like rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties — that our forebears fought and bled for. Regardless of the push and pull of daily politics, it’s up to us to leave those instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them.
And finally, take time, in the rush of events and responsibilities, for friends and family. They’ll get you through the inevitable rough patches.
Michelle and I wish you and Melania the very best as you embark on this great adventure, and know that we stand ready to help in any ways which we can.
