This morning we are learning about the Honda recall due to faulty airbags.
I know that my 2003 Honda Accord has had the airbag light come on sporadically on and off for the last several months.
Honda’s expansion of recall will affect several countries like the U.S., Canada, Japan and Australia. Total number of cars affected with the problem has went up more than 430, 000.
In a statement, Honda officials said that due to the problem airbags, which are indented to make sure safety of passengers will bring an opposite result. Defective airbags could break, “resulting in metal fragments passing through the airbag cushion material and possibly causing injury or fatality to vehicle occupants”.
Honda said that several incidents occurred due to airbag defect and in one case a drive has been killed.
Expanded recall is expected to affect 2001 and 2002 models of Honda Accord, Civic, TL, CR-V, Odyssey, Pilot and CL in North America and the Inspire, Saber and Lagreat models in Japan.
When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers. Honda owners can go to https://owners.honda.com/recalls or call (800) 999-1009; Acura owners can go to https://owners.acura.com/recalls or call (800) 382-2238. When owners of these vehicles receive written notification of this recall from Honda, they should contact their authorized Honda or Acura dealer to schedule an appointment for repair. Honda will also follow the mailed notifications with telephone contact to each customer.
