AT&T and Apple – The real story behind the meltdown

The August 2010 issue of Wired has a story written by Fred Vogelstein about the the AT&T and Apple meltdown.  Vogelstein discusses the breakdown in talks to the standoffs in meetings, to the rantings by Steve Jobs about the failure of AT&T to deliver.

The story talks about the backlash to AT&T and whether or not the relationship with Apple with differing cultures was worth it. AT&T wireless revenues rose 43%, profit up 200 percent, number of subscribers grown 40 percent.

I for one am not a happy customer, with service degrading considerably since entering into the loathed required 2 year contract.  I will admit that in the first 30 days service was ok, better than I had experienced with t-Mobile, but about 60 days into the contract and for the last several months, the quality of service has been horrendous, including support, and customer service.  It took me almost a month to get a canned response.  AT&T I am not happy with your handling of my situation, and perhaps you are trying to make a point by failing to deliver an acceptable level of service, for the iPhone.

It is a good read, and you can catch it here, wait I can’t find the link on the Wired site yet. Pick it up at a local newstand.
