Altadena Urban Farmers Market Review(awesome)

Today was the Altadena Urban Farmers Market held at the Zane Grey Estate on Mariposa in Altadena.   What a great location to hold this type of event.

More than 20 vendors. About 330 people attended despite the rain.

About 2 hours into the event, may of the vendors had sold out, and some in a matter of 20 minutes had sold out, for example the pies, sold quickly.  The rain put a small damper on the event, but we hear it could become a monthly event! Yeah! we would love to see the Altadena Urban Farmers Market go monthly.

Some pictures from the Urban Farmers Market:

Some of the vendors on hand:

It started like any other typical suburban ranch house property on a very dull 1/2 acre. We could see the potential of returning the soil back in to what it had been, productive farm land… but on a smaller scale.

The market also was being held to raise some funds:
The October 17 market will raise money for the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund. This article is a nice story about the service they provide for family farms and the people who want to purchase from them.
