Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Grand Opening March 5, 2016

The ceremonies will take place at the Duarte/City of Hope Station with a street fair, live music, food trucks and a VIP luncheon at the renowned cancer hospital on March 5, 2016.

Metro CEO Phil Washington announced last October that the 11.9-mile extension would begin taking passengers on Saturday, March 5.

Passenger service is scheduled to begin that day at noon on the entire, 11.9-mile extension from east Pasadena to the Azusa/Glendora border, said Rick Jager, Metro spokesman.

When the Foothill Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa opens for passenger service on March 5, 2016, six new stations in Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa will provide light rail transit service to areas of Los Angeles County that have not had it available in more than half a century. In this video, you’ll hear from residents who live, work and play near the current Gold Line stations, many of whom ride the line regularly.
