Huge Fire in New Mexico Over 68 Square Miles on Fire – Los Alamos National Labs

Ariel views from Las Conchas wildfire
Here’s a webcam from the Pajarito Mountains:
https://www.skipajarito.com/webcamtop.php

This fire went from 0 to 50, 000 acres in under 24 hours!!! think about it!
Los Alamos with over 11, 000 employees in number. It’s the biggest employer in northern New Mexico, generates a significant amount of gross receipts tax for the state, educates a lot of grad students and postdocs aside from doing its core research.
A huge facility with everything from nuclear physics to ice sheet and oceanographic research, space physics, seismology, geothermal energy research, solar…..mostly all you ever hear about in the media is the weapons part but there’s a lot more going on at Los Alamos Nuclear Labs.
Posted on the official site:
6/27/2011 15:25 – Los Alamos National Laboratory emergency officials have announced that the Lab will remain closed on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 because of risks presented by the Las Conchas wild fire and the staged, mandatory evacuation of the Los Alamos town site. A one-acre spot fire was reported in Water Canyon, within Technical Area 49, on the Lab’s southwestern boundary. Reports from the field say the fire has jumped to the north across New Mexico State Route 4. More details will follow as soon as they are available. The Lab is supporting Los Alamos County as it conducts a staged, mandatory evacuation of the town site. Los Alamos County residents should tune to 1610-AM for updated information. A Joint Information Center has been established at the Regional Development Corporation, 2209 Miguel Chavez Rd. in Santa Fe. Media should call 505-820-1226 for updates and monitor www.nmfireinfo.com for official fire updates.

Los Angeles Dodgers Bankrupt @dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers Bankrupt:

Frank McCourt says Bud Selig forced the move.

Wow

The Dodgers announce they have filed for bankruptcy protection for the financial good of the team. If the court approves interim financing, owner Frank McCourt could meet Thursday’s payroll and remain in control of the Dodgers through bankruptcy proceedings.

Manny Ramirez is the Dodgers’ largest creditor, according to the bankruptcy filing. The Dodgers owe Ramirez $21 million, followed by Andruw Jones ($11 million), Hiroki Kuroda ($4.5 million), Rafael Furcal ($3.7 million) and the Chicago White Sox ($3.5 million, for Juan Pierre).

The list of creditors includes much of the current Dodgers roster, Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully ($152,778), the city of Los Angeles ($240,563 in tax debt) and two players yet to play for the Dodgers (prospects Zach Lee at $3.4 million and Alexander Santana at $499,500).

Fresh Almonds Organic Yemetz Family

Fresh Almonds Organic Yemetz Family

Today I visited the Atwater Village Farmer’s Market, one of the better small markets in the Los Angeles area.  It has a variety of vendors and food products as well as a good assortment of farmers and produce.

One of the newest additions to the Atwater Market is Almonds from Yemetz Family Orchards north of Fresno.

These almonds are very good.  Direct from the grower to you. Freshness is Assured!

They will not be there next week, but the following.

You can call them at (818) 823-7833, the husband and wife team live in Burbank and go to the orchard on a regular basis to harvest. The next harvest is in September 2011.

Yemetz is a local family farm, and they grow truly raw organic almonds that are naturally high in enzymes and nutrients. Because they are local, they taste fresher and have a richer almond flavor.

Habit Burger, Burbank Experience

I’m posting this here on my blog as I don’t know for certain that Habit Burger will receive the comment I posted on their website. It doesn’t really have a good way for customers to submit feedback about their experience with their restaurant/dining experience.

I was at your Burbank, CA location last Wednesday. and was disappointed in the quality of the service and food.I went with a friend who raves about Habit, and even he was diappointed. 1. The bread/bun was hard, how did that happen?2. The burger was sloppy, not well put together.3. The fries, dried out and overcooked. While I understand the place was jammed, the quality as you always claim is supposed to be #1 along with service. What was the topped was that there was a homeless man, in front of the establishment and a manager or employee was trying to deal with it, making everyone in the patio area VERY uncomfortable. Why the police was not called is beyond me as it seemed the situation was escalating and the individual was pointing at customers. All in all this visit was very uneasy, and the main reason I bring it up is so that you know and take some type of corrective action here.  So that someone doesn’t say.. wow we didn’t know it was getting bad.If you need further details please feel free to email me.
