Get Your Taxes Done: Some Websites to Help You Out

Tax season is upon us once more.  It’s easy to dread filing the tax return, even with the prospect of a good return.  The fact is nobody likes extra paperwork.  Well, we’ve got something special for you today: a list of some sites that will help make filing your tax return this year less painful.  Who wouldn’t want to simplify and speed the time they spend on taxes?  Read on and find the tax preparation site that’s best for you:

1. TurboTax

TurboTax is probably the best-known electronic tax solution.  One of the pros when considering TurboTax is that they have been around for a while and have a good reputation among their customers.  They also offer free live tax advice through chat or phone.  It’s great to know that if you really get stuck you can have a tax expert working with you live…for FREE.  Definitely worth taking a look at, TurboTax offers several different packages including a Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business.  You choose the package that works best for you based on your situation and the type of tax return you will be filing.  If you have trouble choosing, there is an online selector tool that will help match you up to the right version.  Of course, you could always call and explain your situation too.

2. H&R Block

Although you’ve no doubt heard of H&R Block, you may not have known that they also offer free online tax filing.  What we find here is very similar to TurboTax, in that there are several different versions available depending on your needs.  There’s the simple free version and then some other offerings for business owners, investors, and others with more complex tax filings.  New feature: you can import last year’s tax data from TurboTax and TaxACT online.

3. CompleteTax

CompleteTax is a lesser known entity but gets the job done.  They have tips for getting the most out of your return and can provide you with inside tax tips that you may never have found on your own.  Choose from Basic (free), Deluxe, and Premium.  All with a 100% accurate calculations guarantee.

4. CitizenTax

You didn’t know you had so many options did you?  CitizenTax allows you to get started for free (you pay once you are ready to file), that way you can see how everything works before deciding if you want to go through with their program.  A helpful FAQ section answers many of the most common questions related to filing taxes and can save you the time of having to call or chat with someone.
