Integrated with the Blink network, the new home solution makes it easier than ever to “go electric”
SAN FRANCISCO — Wednesday, May 22, 2013 — ECOtality, Inc. (NASDAQ:ECTY), a leader in clean electric transportation, today introduced Blink HQ, a new family of electric vehicle (EV) charging products for the home. In tandem with the Blink Network, these new chargers will offer drivers unparalleled freedom and confidence to charge at home and on-the-go. Blink HQ includes a free membership to the Blink Network and a $100 charging credit with purchase, making it one of the best values available for EV drivers.
The Blink HQ suite of products is adding two new programmable Level 2 home chargers to consumers’ charging options; the first to launch is a 30-Amp home charger with delayed start options to optimize charging rates. This will be followed by the introduction of a new Level 2 charger with connected capabilities and remote access.
The new Blink HQ family of products offers consumers:
- Complete range confidence for their EV by connecting the home charger with Blink Network’s 4,000+ publicly available charging stations
- $100 charging credit on the Blink Network
- Ability to deliver a quick, full charge at a rate up to four times faster than a Level 1 home charger
“Our premiere line of Blink HQ home charging products offer EV drivers exactly what they’ve been asking for: connection to the Blink Network, freedom to charge at home at their convenience and unprecedented value,” said Ravi Brar, CEO of ECOtality. “As EV sales continue their rapid growth, ECOtality is meeting the need for smart, programmable and affordable quick chargers in the home.
“We see a clear connection between charging at home, at work, while shopping or on the road during a trip,” continued Mr. Brar. “Having Blink HQ home charging products in EV drivers’ homes, bundled with a membership, will help support our growth and generate an annuity base as the number of EV drivers grows.”
Blink HQ continues the legacy of home charging solutions provided by the company. To date, Blink has installed over 8,300 residential chargers in 38 states.
The first new Blink HQ model will launch in early summer 2013 and reservations are now being accepted. For customers looking for the most feature-rich in-home charging solution, Blink still offers its classic wall mount unit as part of the HQ family.
The Blink HQ family of products includes a one-year parts and labor warranty, as well as a $100 membership credit to be used at any of Blink Network’s over 4,000 publicly available charging stations. Qualified drivers are eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $1,000 on the purchase and installation of a residential charging station through the end of 2013 (learn more at https://www.blinknetwork.com/

Chaparral Mountain Honey Company is a family-owned company located in the foothills of Altadena with over 35 years of beekeeping experience.
We specialize in producing single varietals and local wildflower mixes (mixed by the bees) from southern California.
Our most common honey varieties include:
Orange honey, gathered from orange trees in California’s Central Valley.
Sage honey, gathered from black & white sage flowers growing in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains; sage honey is a unique California product.
Buckwheat honey from buckwheat flowers growing in the foothills of Glendale and Eagle Rock.
Premium honey, harvested in the fall; it contains nectars from eucalyptus, sage, mustard, buckwheat, sumac, jacaranda, and many other flowers.
Altadena Gold wildflower, a summer harvest honey, gathered from native chaparral plants such as sage, sumac, toyon, buckwheat, and some garden flowers.
Angel’s Kiss honey, gathered at 3300 ft, and includes nectar from Yerba Santa and other higher elevation wildflowers; it has a tangy flavor.
Almond honey, collected during pollination in February from trees in the Central Valley. This honey has a nice balanced flavor, but some people get a bitter aftertaste, so be sure to taste before you buy.
Avocado honey, from nectar gathered during avocado pollination in Temecula. The unusual strong taste is reminiscent of molasses and the honey is good used in gingerbread and spice cake.
Jacaranda honey, from the lovely purple-flowered trees that bloom in May-June. The honey is dark with a slightly caramelized taste.
Find them on facebook.
If you would like to purchase honey and can come to Altadena for pick up, message me your email and I’ll send you an order form. At that time I’ll also tell you the weekend dates when we will be “open” for pick up. If that works for you, then we’ll all be happy.

Teen’s invention could charge your phone in 20 seconds
Watch the video – think of all the rechargeable batteries that could benefit from this technology. Electric cars, imaging not having to plug in for 8 hours to charge your car on a level 2 charger, but using this supercapacitor enhanced batteries, how fast could car batteries charge? Is it like a level 3 charge? Or is this different?
Waiting hours for a cellphone to charge may become a thing of the past, thanks to an 18-year-old high-school student’s invention. She won a $50,000 prize Friday at an international science fair for creating an energy storage device that can be fully juiced in 20 to 30 seconds.
The fast-charging device is a so-called supercapacitor, a gizmo that can pack a lot of energy into a tiny space, charges quickly and holds its charge for a long time.
What’s more, it can last for 10,000 charge-recharge cycles, compared with 1,000 cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries, according to Eesha Khare of Saratoga, Calif.
“My cellphone battery always dies,” she told NBC News when asked what inspired her to work on the energy-storage technology. Supercapacitors also allowed her to focus on her interest in nanochemistry — “really working at the nanoscale to make significant advances in many different fields.”
To date, she has used the supercapacitor to power a light-emitting diode, or LED. The invention’s future is even brighter. She sees it fitting inside cellphones and the other portable electronic devices that are proliferating in today’s world, freeing people and their gadgets for a longer time from reliance on electrical outlets.
“It is also flexible, so it can be used in rollup displays and clothing and fabric,” Khare added. “It has a lot of different applications and advantages over batteries in that sense.”
Khare’s invention won her the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, conducted this week in Phoenix, Ariz. For more information about the event and other prize winners, check out our earlier coverage.
So you think that having a cracked screen is cool.
Some people have a back that is cracked, the front is not.
Some are even downloading cracked screen apps.
Does this mean you have street cred if your phone has a big crack? or maybe you don’t want to spend the money to fix it?
A typical repair cost about $150 for a screen and there are places popping up all over the place to repair your phone.

90,000 music videos now available to Last.fm’s European users via partnership with MUZU.TV
Last.fm and MUZU.TV have entered into a strategic partnership which will see a series of integrations rolling out on both sites across Europe. From this week, Last.fm will add 90,000 music videos from MUZU.TV across all artist pages on the Last.fm site in nineteen countries, including the UK and Germany
Scrobbling will be implemented for videos watched through the MUZU.TV player on Last.fm and on the MUZU.TV site. Scrobbling helps Last.fm tell what songs an individual plays most often, which songs they like the most and how many times they have played a track. The information helps every user discover new music, as Last.fm learns what they listen to and delivers unique music recommendations. The more videos users watch on the Last.fm artist pages, the more Last.fm is able to provide these music recommendations.
While the partnership is only available in Europe at present, there are plans for it to be rolled out to other key Last.fm markets in the coming months.
Ciaran Bollard, CEO and Co-Founder of MUZU.TV commented: “By partnering with Last.fm we significantly extend the reach for the MUZU.TV music video catalogue to a potential audience of almost 45 million users, enhance the user experience on both sites and drive additional revenue for artists and label partners.”
Simon Moran, MD for Last.fm said:
“Watching music videos on Last.fm has grown significantly in the last two years, so with more demand for video, it made sense to partner with a company who has one of the most extensive catalogues of music videos on the web. The addition of these videos to our artist pages further enhances Last.fm’s position as one of the largest collections of music information in the world.”

Credit card rewards are great but knowing when to use them can be confusing, Reward Summit is helping change that fact.
Reward Summit is a new mobile app for both iOS and Android users. When you first open the app, you are asked to either sign in or sign up. New users are walked through the process of adding credit cards, based on favorite to least favorite. Reward Summit NEVER asks for your credit card information, no matter what kind of card you use. Once you added all of your credit cards, you can start earning rewards, whether that’s points, miles, or dollars!
Download the Reward Summit app here!
Once you have finished adding cards and filling out your profile, you are presented with six different icons: At Store, At Home, Reports, My Info, Wallet, and Recent. Users can use either At Store or At Home to start earning with Reward Summit.
When at the store, Reward Summit uses GPS to find your location and what store you’re in. Find your store, categorize you purchase and find out which credit card is recommended for that purchase. Think of it almost like a cheat sheet with quick access to the best card for every purchase you make.
Reward Summit provides you with easy to read spending reports based on how much you’re spending in each category. The app also shows you how much other reward programs would have saved you based on usage. Don’t worry though, all app data is encrypted and account credentials are never stored.
Choosing a reward credit card to use is now a lot easier. It used to be that I fumbled through my wallet trying to remember which card had rewards or cash back, now I can just pull out my phone and use Reward Summit. I look at my recommendations based on what I’m buying and pull a card out, knowing I will earn rewards. I didn’t know it could be this easy, honestly!
Reward Summit also makes it easier to understand which reward credit cards work best for me. The app categorizes transactions and shows me which credit card program will earn me the most in rewards. Instead of going online and searching for the right rewards program, I am given recommendations based on actual usage.
It only takes a few seconds using our application on your smartphone or computer to maximize your rewards. And with integration to social applications like Foursquare, you can automatically get recommendations when you check in at a merchant.
