Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum : India Opens the Door to New Opportunities

March 14, Pasadena — India Opens the Door to New Opportunities.
Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum. In 2007 India’s GDP crossed the trillion-dollar line; it is now among the Top 20 trading partners for the United States. According to the New York Times, the Harvard economist Kenneth S. Rogoff noted at the International Monetary Forum in Davos, Switzerland that India seems to be in line for economic growth in a time when few countries are. With a newly open economy and a powerful technology industry, India offers attractive global marketing opportunities for tech companies in California. In the program on March 14th, we will examine how these new trends will influence emerging companies in Southern California in 2010 and beyond.

Signaling this change, technical and financial collaboration opportunities between the United States and India have increased rapidly over the past five years. India, the world’s largest democracy, offers an important growth market for American tech companies. Investment, intellectual property, R&D and innovation are starting to flow in both directions: almost every blue chip venture capital partnership including such titans as Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia Capital now has an Indian operation. Equally important, Indian investors such as Baring have begun looking to the US for opportunities. In the program on March 14th, we will examine how these new trends will influence emerging companies in Southern California in 2010 and beyond.

“The document is a complete fraud, ” said Oscar spokeswoman Leslie Unger. The list first appeared on the international blog site Cinematical and it was believed to be authentic as it had the signature of Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’, reports contactmusic.com.

“PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is still counting the ballots and there are only two people there who will know the complete list of winners in advance of the envelopes being opened during the ceremony. The Academy’s president is not advised of the winners in advance and no such list is created,” said Unger.

Here’s a link to the supposed fake list of winners for tonight’s Oscar awards.

Craigslist revenue will they start charging for other ads?

Craigslist revenue will they start charging for other ads?

This morning I posted an ad on craigs list and I am seeing some commerce implemented, although there was no charge, this is new to see a invoice type layout for the ad confirmation.

With the thousands of ads posted on craigslist.org daily, can craigslist stand to start charging? My guess would be yes, as long as the charges are fair, I would pay $.50-$1 for a simple ad. Maybe I could tie it to my paypal account.

Is Craigslist making money with the postings they do charge for? From their FAQ page, if Craigslist receives 2 million NEW job postings each month at a min of $25 each that’s $50 million a month! Can Craigslist really be making $50 million per month! WOW!

Q: How many job listings does craigslist receive?
A: More than 2 million new job listings each month

Q: How much are job ads?
A: $25 in Chicago, NYC, LA, DC, Boston, Portland, Sacramento, Seattle, and San Diego, and $75 in SF.

In addition a $10 fee for brokered apartment listings in New York City

Q: Is there a connection between craigslist and eBay?
A: eBay acquired 25% of the equity in craigslist from a former shareholder in august of 2004.

https://www.craigslist.org/about/factsheet

Another interesting fact!

Q: How much traffic does craigslist get?
A: More than 12 billion page views per month

Q: How many classified ads does craigslist receive?
A: craigslist users self-publish more than 30 million new classified ads each month
