What Will Apple Do With $100 Billion? Find Out

Update: The call has taking place.

Dividend:
Quarterly Dividend of $2.65 in Sept quarter. Record and payment day in July., first year payments could be over $10 billion, majority of cash to pay dividends. largest in US.

Share Buyback:
Dec Quarter share repurchase $10 billion in 3 years! Employee equity program, $4 billion.
Will be reviewed. Will continue to do what is best for stakeholders. To neutralize shares.
To maintain enough US cost.

There is talk about the domestic US cash vs international cash. War chest to do things they want to do. They felt it would be the right action to issue a dividend.

$45 billion used in the first 3 years.

$16 billion generated in 2012 so far first quarter.

1. To maintain investment opportunities
2. Income for long term
3. Attract investors
4. Long term of Apple

Board declaration
No magic numbers.

– No stock split. very little research to support. But they continue to look into it. if it is in best interest of Apple and shareholders.

– Record weekend sales of new iPad sales!

– Both Peter and Tim are confident that the new “stuff” coming down the pipeline will please Apple customers.

There is much speculation in what Apple will do with $100 billion in cash.

Will it be something with non-profits or philanthropic?
A new product?
Acquisition, perhaps buying twitter or Spring?
Fund for others to build something?
A dividend (which hasn’t been paid in nearly 17 years)?

The odds are that it will be a dividend, announced before the market opens on a Monday!
