If you are like me you are probably wondering what is the percentage of the United States population that is vegetarian? Well if you watched the promo for America’s Next Great Restaurant in which contestants are competing, one of the numbers we hear is 50%, that sounds like a extraordinary number, right?
Well, the number of true vegetarians in the United States is estimated to be closer to 20% from various polls we looked at. This is folks who eat all grains, rice, veges, pasta, etc.. If you look at the number that eat veges and white meat, chicken and fish, I would guess that number is closer to 60-70%, reflective of the number of people who responded as meat and potatoes eaters at 35%
