If you are in a metropolitan area like Los Angeles and you have clear site to transmission towers, then you may want to consider an Over The Air antenna.
I just swapped my DirecTV with cable with an OTA antenna. And I have to tell you that the OTA quality is so much better than the DirecTV signal.
Not only that but I get 139 channels OTA, I will grant you that not many of the channels are high quality, but there’s actually a surprising amount of programming that is only available OTA.
So what are some of the best OTA Antennas?

I am trying the RCA antenna now and it appears to work ok, but it is sort of unsightly with the two rods projecting out of the base.
