Greetings!
I know that you have heard very little from Entretech for quite some time. The silence has been due to difficulty in raising operating support during the recent economic downturn. Last year it became necessary for Entretech to operate without a paid staff and as a result program services were drastically reduced. Needless to say, these have been extremely trying times for the organization.
The difficulties during this period have provided our Board of Directors with many opportunities to revisit the mission of Entretech. Prior to the downturn, we were on a track to grow the hi-tech and life sciences industry in the Greater Los Angeles Region. In an effort to help more businesses, we had expanded our scope beyond our founding emphasis on the Pasadena area. We now believe on a go forward basis that Entretech can be most effective by returning to a Pasadena focused organization.
As the economy has begun to show signs of improvement, Entretech has experienced a revival through key corporate sponsorship pledges. With a renewed focus on Pasadena, Entretech is re-launching this month with the purpose of serving as a facilitator in helping to strengthen the existing high-tech community and attract new businesses to the area.
Our initial plans include:
· Bringing the high-tech community together through networking events and purpose driven meetings
· Holding community meetings to discuss the current challenges of establishing and operating a high-tech business in the Pasadena Area
· Establishing a web portal that provides information on resources for high-tech businesses in the Pasadena Area
We are going to kick off our re-launch by re-establishing The Mix on the second Tuesday of each month with a featured business as the host. The Mix is a social event that was created by and for entrepreneurs to give high-tech professionals a chance to relax and mingle without the pressure of formal networking. The first event will be held on Tuesday, September 14th, from 5-7pm at Villa SORRISO.
We also plan on going live by the end of September with the first iteration of our re-designed website. Our long range intent for the site is that it will become the premiere hub of resources that are needed to establish and operate a high-tech business in the Pasadena area. We’ll notify you when the new site is up.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, I want to say that we are excited about the re-launch of Entretech and its renewed focus on serving the Pasadena area. I encourage you to get involved with Entretech and help us to further develop the Pasadena high-tech community.
