Charter Internet for Business? NOT @charter

Here’s the latest in the saga of dealing with Charter Communications for internet services.

I can only imagine if you use them for phone and video service that they are just that much worse.

The last few days we have been having trouble with internet at our offices. It cuts in and out for about 5-20 minutes at a time, a couple times a day.  Last night it happened again and then one of the modems this morning went offline completely. So I reset the modem and it still would not go online.

I then proceeded to call the local director for the area, got voice mail, no surprise there. Then I called support, big mistake trying to get help for Charter support. Anyway, I called and spoke to Rob, badge # 25739, he basically put me on hold came back told me yeah the modem was offline, and I asked that a tech be sent out to look at it asap. He came back with the tech would be here between 3-5pm, I told him that based on the troubles we are having on an ongoing basis that wasn’t good enough, he laughed, I responded, why are you laughing, he said he wasn’t laughing, I asked to speak to the liaison group, he said he couldn’t help, said I wanted to speak to his supervisor, said he would send me to his voice mail.

WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT IS THIS?

Charter is not recommended for business class services, yes, when  it works it does work pretty well, but most of the time you can expect to have issues, just plan on it. If you do have to have reliable internet, get a DSL, or ethernet connection from a business class solution and maybe keep Charter as a backup, but even that is not a good solution…

Suffice it to say that we are not pleased with Charter.

Funny thing is that they have offices right down the street and you can’t get a hold of any of the people in that office, and they hardly ever will answer their phones.

Charter, needs to wake up to businesses class services if they expect to keep businesses engaged long term.  We have had them for several years and the service for the part has been problematic. And there is never any explanation, it just goes out and comes back.

Internet is a critical part of doing your daily business, maybe we have become too dependent, but it is an effective tool for getting the job done.

Even if Charter was to charge a little more for the service, it would be ok, but not for what they are providing today.

Just do a search on twitter or other websites to see all the complaints.  This not an isolated case….
