AT&T Bundles – scam or save money ?

I recently saw an add from AT&T to save some money.

It was the AT&T Double Bundle 60. Basically, it includes unlimited local and long distance phone and internet for $60 plus taxes. I received a notice that confirmed my order and it stated that there was a change of $15. I called and confirmed that the bill would be what I was told. $65 + taxes because I am on the higher speed internet.

Now I received my bill and it is over $106!

I just filled out the email contact form, which is very confusing and failed to load. The office for AT&t doesn’t open until 8am, they didn’t give a time zone.

I have called twice regarding my bill. I requested several weeks ago to change to the 60 plan for internet and unlimited calling. My bill that I just received is over $106! This is wrong. I am not going to pay this. I was told repeatedly by reps that my bill would be 65+ taxes. There is no way that my bill should have gone up when I requested a bundle.

Here’s the contact info:
Plans and Services 1 800 288-2020

AT&T Internet Services 1 877 722-3755

Other AT&T Long Distance 1 800 288-2020

I’m very tempted to cancel the whole service with AT&T and go with another company.
Maybe just get basic phone and then get DSL from another company like speakeasy.

Companies like AT&T, DirecTV, Charter are all out to rob consumers blind, tricking them into signing up for services and inflating their bills out of control. Could utilities be the next crises in America? Our phones and tv service cost us over $400 a month, $100 for the home phone + internet, 100 for DirecTV, and $200 for Tmobile. $400!!!! Insane. And the customer service from all the above companies is horrible.

Companies with good service:
Gas Co. / Sempra – good bill
Pasadena Power – fair bill, about $50/mo for electric
I commend thesee companies for their service and looking out for consumers. I am very interested in purchasing a CNG vehicle so I can get a Phil system at home and pay a little over $1 per gallon of natural gas. That’s less than a third of the $3.61 I paid for oil gas yesterday.

Today we are going to the AltCar Energy Expo in Santa Monica, should be fun and education.
