A recipe on Mint Julep

Today is the annual Kentucky Derby and If you have  ever  been to horse racing you might have heard about the highly energetic drink Mint Julep.  Mint Julep is the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby.

It is a slightly alcoholic drink and there can be many recipes that can be made out of Mint Julep.  Particularly, Mint helps in giving strong flavor and smell for the recipe. Let’s see how to do a classic mint julep recipe here.

Here are the ingredients needed for the recipe.

1) Mint

2) Bourbon Whiskey

3) Water

4) Powdered Sugar

5) Silver Julep Cup

6) Ice

Muddle water, powdered sugar and mint leaves in the Silver Julep Cup you have taken.  Add the crushed Ice and Bourbon Whiskey to it. Top up this with more ice and 3-4 mint leaves. Mint leaves can be added more if you want.

Note : Instead of using powdered sugar,  you can use sugar syrup.  Sugar syrup can be prepared by putting sugar in the boiled water and leave it for some time.  When the Syrup is ready, you can make it cool down and keep it in fridge so that you need not use powdered sugar every time.

Enjoy your sports with Mint Julep Drink.
