Le Cordon Bleu – Bleu Ribbon Kitchen

When it was founded in 1895, Le Cordon Bleu consisted of a single culinary arts school in Paris. Today, the institution has grown to encompass 30 academies spread across five continents, including 16 in the United States alone. Instructors continue to train future generations of aspiring culinary professionals, building upon a foundation of classic European techniques by teaching students to understand and appreciate global cuisines.

Bleu Ribbon Kitchen continues this mission by opening the academies’ doors to casual cooking enthusiasts. Le Cordon Bleu’s professional instructors lead in-depth, immersive workshops that utilize the same professional-grade tools as the schools’ culinary students. Sessions often introduce basic concepts such as knife skills or pastry technique, although workshops also explore international cuisines and culinary traditions. Above all else, Bleu Ribbon Kitchen broadens students’ horizons by immersing them in the world of a culinary professional, even if only for one afternoon.

Pasadena Rose Bowl RBOC Says No To NFL @rosebowl

The Rose Bowl Operating Company RBOC President Victor Gordo, has been talking to the media about how the NFL using the Rose Bowl as a temporary venue is bad for the residents of Pasadena, and that it is better to hold a multi-day arts and music festival(operated by AEG).

The Rose Bowl was one of five venues contacted by the league. The others are the Coliseum, Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium and StubHub Center in Carson

I don’t know if it is a fair assessment to compare an arts and music festival at the Rose Bowl to an NFL game at the Rose Bowl, which one would bring more revenue to the city?  Which would cause damage to facilities, more maintenance. From what I could gather regarding the NFL it was a commitment of eight games. Now the NFL must go elsewhere to find a temporary location as Los Angeles struggles to bring a team to the second largest market in the US, which has not had a football team for decades.

Darryl Dunn is the General Manager of the RBOC.

Looking at some of the expenditures on the renovation.

1, D’Agostino Izzo Quirk Architects, not to exceed $5,712,000 continued professional architectural design services through 2016 for Rose Bowl Renovation and Improvement Project.

2. Syska Hennessy Group – $3,331,460 for continued professional mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the Rose Bowl Renovation through 2016.

3. w2 Design inc, (noted Pasadena based company), $1,202,80 for professional civil engineering services

4. EPT Design, $317,092, professional landscaping architectural services

5. Bernards Barton Malow Joint Venture, $8,963890 for project management servies.

The Pasadena Rose Bowl renovation project is estimated to cost over $180 million. You can see the June 2015 report here.

Notice that AT&T is investing in placing wireless infrastructure throughout the facility, for improved wireless coverage.

Upcoming events for the next month include:

July 8, 2015 – LA Street Food Fest

July 12 2015 – Flea Market

July 14, 2015 – Field Event?
