Oxnard, CA – The Oxnard Salsa Festival celebrates its 20th year anniversary in 2013! One of Oxnard’s signature events, the Oxnard Salsa Festival celebrates salsa food, music and dance on July 27-28, 2013 at PlazaPark, Fifth and “B” Streets, in historic downtown Oxnard.
Presented by the Oxnard Downtowners, the annual event features spicy food and fiery, top entertainment, attracting an estimated 45,000 salsa lovers to the City of Oxnard for the two-day action packed celebration.
Everything salsa – the food, the music, the dance – is on the menu of this popular regional festival. Event highlights include Main Stage entertainment with Salsa and Latin Jazz bands; the Salsa Tasting Tent, featuring over 75 different salsas; an eclectic vendor marketplace; international foods; Kids Korner attractions; chef demonstrations; a salsa recipe contest and more. Pasadena is the scene of a manhunt for a suspect in an officer involved shooting.
The scene of the incident appears to be at Orange Grove and Mar Vista. Note: Mar Vista has been the scene of several incidents recently.
At this time helicopters are still searching for the suspect and roads are closed between Hill and Orange Grove and Wilson and Orange Grove with most blocks closed south of Orange Grove north of the 210 fwy to Orange Grove.
The suspect is believed to be in this area but at this time the search has been active for over 6 hours and no suspect has been found.
NBC reported: Two arrests were made “unrelated to the shooting,” according to a watch commander for the Pasadena Police Department.

PASADENA, CA (March 4, 2013) – The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran Executive Director), announced today that a “SHAMROCK-N-ROLL at The Playhouse” community Saint Patrick’s Day concert event will celebrate the opening of ONE NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN on Sunday, March 17, from 1:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m on El Molino Avenue in front of the theatre.
The “SHAMROCK-N-ROLL” event will feature an outdoor stage where Dread Zeppelin, Cerny Brothers, Shillaly Brothers and Aquarius will perform free concerts. The Cherry Boom Boom dancers will perform 60s-style dancing in the evening hours of the event. A beer garden, sponsored by Stone Brewing Company will be selling beer, wine and concessions in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day (21 and older, valid I.D. required for entry) along with several local food trucks selling their specialties. Zona Rosa will be hosting live music, a local rock ‘n’ roll themed art gallery and selling coffee beverages. Local crafting store, little junebugs, will host face painting and “Crafty Bingo” from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. and “Adult Crafting Cork Art” (18 and older, $15 admission charge) from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Janis Joplin’s psychedelically painted 1965 365c Porsche Cabriolet will be on display, in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum and courtesy of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Janis had purchased the Porsche in 1968 from a Beverly Hills dealership for $3,500 and asked friend Dave Richards to paint it psychedelic colors for $500. She was known to drive around Los Angeles with the top down, laughing with her carefree spirit. The Sierra Madre Collection will host a photo opportunity with the Porsche for a charitable donation, and additional classic Porsches will be on display. Other events and activities to be announced.
