‘‘Game’ In today’s technology extends far beyond familiar teen video diversions. Aptly dubbed “serious games” and sometimes “gamification,” the field now embraces a growing wealth of    important applications. Evolved from pre-computer roots (e.g., military “war games”), key computer simulations and training now increasingly permeate the government world. Likewise, learning tasks from corporate training to childhood education have been variously recast in a “game” context; but in fact their focus and purposes are not simple “fun and entertainment.”

This program looks at the entrepreneurial / innovation context of the what-why-how of “serious games” in important social and commercial endeavors. Our speakers will exploring various facets such as applications, platforms, areas for growth, investment landscape, and how it all meshes with the undeniable lure of playing games.
