TROPICAL STORM ADVISORY FOR LOS ANGELES COUNTY
The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for heavy rains, localized flooding, and tropical storm force winds for the greater Los Angeles County region, beginning early Sunday, August 20th through Monday, August 21st. The Rosemead Public Safety Department is actively monitoring the potential impact from Tropical Storm Hilary and is encouraging residents to begin preparations for periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and the possibility of power outages during this storm event.
Tropical storm force winds can have a significant impact and cause damage. Fallen trees and flying debris are the most common occurrences when there are high winds, as well as power outages. Remember to stay away from downed power lines and electrical wires. Please be sure to have flashlights with extra batteries since power restoration may take time. Do not attempt to drive or walk through flooded areas. Residents are encouraged to make additional preparations like having several days of food and water in the event of a prolonged power outage.
