Be very cautious of the PlatePass service available in rental cars, in particular with Hertz.

You are charged for each day of your rental of the car, even if you do not use PlatePass each day you are still charged up to $10.

In my case I used the PlatePass on one day of the three day rental and I was charged a fee for each day of the rental, in this case it was $2.50 per day for a total of $7.50 for only using the pass for one day.

The rental agreements are so vague and the pass itself doesn’t really explain the way the service works.

I called PlatePass and explained to them the way it was described and I got nowhere with trying to explain. They say you owe the money and that it is in the rental agreement, you agree and sign you are on the hook.

If you have trouble with PlatePass do not hesitate to contact them, but be prepared to pay the fees.
