CARmageddon Less than Six Days Away — How to Survive

There’s really on two options to surviving CARmageddon, which is the closure of a 10 mile stretch of the 405 freeway, one of the nations busiest freeways.

If you have to drive across that valley to the Santa Monica area during the closure, find a way out of it, or stay on that side of town for the duration of the closure.

With an estimated 500,000 cars that travel this portion of the freeway per weekend, it is no wonder officials are worried, by the thought of how to get to location that has an emergency, a fire or medical.

The canyon roads that run south and north along and connect the 10 fwy to 101 or 101 to the 1 further north are expected to take a large portion of the traffic and become basically gridlocked.

1. stay home
2. stay away

The project bulletins has the freeway closing at 10pm on Friday the 15th and reopening at 5am on Monday the 18th of July.

In addition to the disruption by the freeway closure expect most of the venues along the affected area to also be closed, including but not limited to The Getty and Skirball Cultural Center.
