AOL vs Arrington

AOL vs Michael Arrington vs Arriana Houghington

Apparently AOL had restricted editorial independence on what could be written about on TechCrunch and sister sites part of the TechCrunch group of sites. Regardless the blog posting by Arrington remains up, where you can read it.

Arrington also does not want to be part of the Huffington Post, which is also owned by AOL.

And to top it off… Arrington was reportedly dropped from the budget and would only remain on as an unpaid blogger!

One report circulating is that AOL is selling many assets for sale or private offering.

Where does this leave AOL?  With a hell of a fight on their hands.  Is Arrington an asset to any sale under these circumstances?  What is TechCrunch without Michael Arrington and his team? Can Michael Arrington start a new site, based on the terms and conditions it is unlikely without being sued, but nothing prevents  Arrington from assisting/consulting another company on their development.

I bet Arrington and Huffington don’t get along very well.

Where is Jason Calacanis?
