A first for Nebraskans

A pageant that showcase physical attributes and talent that is what Teresa Scanlan brought to the table being the first winner of Nebraska in the Miss America beauty contest. A hands down winner displaying beauty and a skill in playing the piano, Scanlan proved to be an all around winner when she expressed aspirations of being an attorney, judge and a politician someday. When it came to the question and answer portion she displayed confidence without showing fear. The poised she showed has made her the best choice and by parlaying enough intelligence because on what she wants to be in life she’s the best role model for her age. Born in Gering, Nebraska Scanlan is a product of Scottsbluff High but her dreams of being Miss America became her main focus and after graduating in May she set her goals in motion wherein she bested 52 other young candidates. That night in Las Vegas a new successor from Miss Omaha was crowned and a new inspiration was born. The title served as the crowning glory but it is only the start as Scanlan will now carry the responsibility of being an ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network and raising awareness on eating disorders.
