Ride an actual Cable Car without leaving home! 49 hours of SF culture in Los Angeles this weekend!

49 Hours of SF:Arts & Culture kicked off last month with online ads and billboards in the Los Angeles area. SF has been forever linked to 49 with it’s geography being 7 miles x 7 miles or 49 square miles, 49’s of both sports and mining fame, the 49 mile drive and of course 48 hours isn’t enough for a get-a-way and this weekend get ready for 49 Hours of SF. After all SF is not your average weekend. As part of the campaign SF will bring a bit of SF to LA and a motorized, vintage, original San Francisco Cable Car is making it’s way down the coast right now! follow it on Twitter @onlyinSF

Make plans to visit the fog-bound northerners visiting on the Classic Cable Car.

As part of a campaign with arts and culture partners SFMOMA, San Francisco Symphony and California Academy of Sciences, the Cable Car will be making appearances throughout LA starting Saturday am at the Silver Lake Farmer’s Market and finishing Sunday pm in West Hollywood. Along with a street team, SF tourism promoters will be on the Cable Car giving away prizes and registering people to win a trip to SF. Supported by our sponsors the Cable Car is tricked out with SF fog, and on board art gallerys, San Francisco Symphony music and a “performer” a.k.a. “drag queen” dressed as Femme au Chapeau, the subject of Henri Matisse’s eponymous masterpiece, currently on display at SFMOMA. For California Academy of Sciences part meet a 9′ albino, Burmese Python who I’m told is “very affectionate” until it gets “cranky”. Ask to meet the lovely and talented (and former Angeleno) Lisa Hasenbalg too, she is the best.

Come on out, get a photo with any or all of the above, bring your kids, your neighbors, anyone who may have left his or her heart in San Francisco and wants a little taste of our neighbor to the north. (just don’t call it “Frisco” lest you endure cold stares from the Cable Car riders, including that python!)

Forward/share this with people that you think might enjoy the quick, gorilla-style appearances.
