Previous career was as film cameraman in the movie industry, (Fargo, Dead Man Walking, Shawshank Redemption, Hudsucker Proxy, The End of Violence, Courage Under Fire etc) and prior to that a photographer, having earned a BA in creative photography from the UK in 1983.
