So this morning like I have done on many mornings I go out to the curb and clean all the rubbish that was thrown out from cars, trash trucks, and other uncaring people.

I found a plastic bottle, cigarette packages, candy wrappers, leaves, cut grass, and much more. What was especially interesting is that the neighbors curb was clean. As if the gardeners had come by and blown all the grass over to our property line front curb.

If you are like me you don’t like leaf blowers for this and other reasons. Why don’t gardener’s just pick up the trash rather than blow it all over the place and to places other than where it should be, in a bag or in a trash can.

So I did what I usually do, and picked it up and put it in the dumpster.

I suspect that some of the wrappers came from the trash pickup as I have seen many times when the trash collection is done, trash comes out and the sanitation folks don’t really take the time to look around and pick up any trash that falls out.

But I do know that much of the trash was not their when I came home and then it was there in the morning, so the trash collection had nothing to do with this.

So why is it that many people really don’t care about picking up trash? I see it even public spaces, parks, squares, and other locations where people just walk by and seem to think that it is there for someone else to pickup. Leave it, not my problem.  Well if enough people think that way… then what do you think happens, you got it … nobody will pickup the trash!

So do your part today, if you see trash on the ground, whatever it is, smashed can, candy wrapper, etc.. pick it up and put it in the right place!

You will feel better for having done so and perhaps someone will see you and think, I should do the same… once piece of trash at a time we can make a difference.
