The prestigious Los Angeles County Museum of Art co-hosts a discussion of issues integral to building organic and sustainable food systems. In addition, tours of works of art in LACMA’s collection will be offered throughout the day.

The Art of Good Food

Food-related art tours offered by LACMA.

10:30 – Trade and the Changing Palette of the Dutch and The European Table Transformed

1:30 and 3:30 pm – Dining Out in 19th Century France and The Age of Elegance

Tours are limited to thirty participants on a first-come, first-served basis.  Tours meet on the Los Angeles Times Central Court.

 

Good Food Conference

The conference focuses on regional and national issues integral to building local and sustainable food systems and supporting the needs of regional family farmers.

Urban “Barn Raising”

Friday, November 2 — 10:00am to 5:00pm at John Muir High School

Join pioneering urban farmer and MacArthur Genius Will Allen and the students of John Muir High School in a “barn raising.” Members of the community, high school students, and Will Allen’s team will construct a season extending hoop house for John Muir High School. It will foster year round education into food, agriculture, and nutrition.

The vent includes workshops, an address from Will Allen, and a farm dinner prepared by some of LA’s top chefs.
