4th Annual Barbecue
Sunday, September 23rd
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp, Irvine

BBQ flyerTickets are now on sale for Slow Food Orange County 4th Annual Barbeque in Bommer Canyon in the City of Irvine on Sunday, September 23rd at 4 p.m. The barbeque is an event for the whole family and will focus on awareness of food that is good, clean, and fair. The family-style meal will be prepared by Chef Ryan Adams of 370 Common in Laguna Beach and will feature pasture-raised Mary’s Free Range Chicken grilled over an open fire, as well as a bounty of local organic produce, artisan cocktails, local craft beer, wine, local oysters, and live music by 5 Star Band.

Prior to the main event there will be an optional short loop hike at 3:00 p.m., guided by a docent from the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. Bommer Canyon  is the site of the old Irvine Ranch Cattle Camp. Some of the original structures exist today, adding to the rustic feel of the canyon.

The program will feature guest speaker Michael Dimock, former Chairman of Slow Food USA, founder of Slow Food Russian River, and President of Roots of Change, a nonprofit, non-governmental organization whose purpose is to spawn a sustainable food system in California by 2030. Roots of Change works with a network of stakeholders that share a commitment to changing our food thinking, food markets, and food policies.

The event will include a raffle and silent auction, with many opportunities to win restaurant gift certificates, artisanal food products, gardening supplies, heirloom plants, original art, products for the home and kitchen, and much, much more. If you have an idea for a donation, please fill out the form at https://slowfoodoc.org/raffle.php

In the spirit of sustainability, everyone is asked to bring their own place setting and glassware. To encourage a zero waste event, there will be a prize awarded for best table setting so creativity is encouraged!

Proceeds from this event benefit local non-profits committed to work that advances Slow Food’s vision of a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the planet, and good for those who produce it. This event is graciously made possible through the support of contributing food sponsors 370 Common and Chef Ryan Adams, Carlsbad Aquafarm, Cismontane Brewing Company, GreenBar Collective Artisan and Organic Spirits, Mary’s Natural Chicken, Nika Water, VerTerra Dinnerware, The Organic Cellar, and Whole Foods Market.

Tickets for the event are $55 per person, $20 for children 12 and under, and may be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/259628. Ticket price includes all food, cocktails, beer, and wine. Be sure to purchase tickets in advance, as this popular event always sells out.
