Connect With Patients Like You @ PatientsLikeMe

To change the life of people affected from illness is what PatientsLikeMe is committed for. It is an online meeting place for patients to share their experiences and help each other. Patients are open to share with each other any of their problems and health issues and can even assist others to deal with their diseases. It is all about giving them new life and removing all inhibitions in them to build their own life.

Patients foster openness and create value of “wow” to continuously imbibe in people to share and learn from the real self. This whole concept of website is a brain work of three MIT engineers, brothers Benjamin and James Heywood and their friend Jeff Cole. They were inspired by the spirit of Heywood family when Stephen Heywood was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, just when he was 29. The Heywood family soon began to find something that could give new life to Stephen. Engineer brothers were so taken by Heywood family’s efforts that they started with PatientsLikeMe to give space and scope to patients to express their feelings openly and with transparency and feel motivated.

Though PatientsLikeMe is a business oriented yet their operate on humanitarian grounds and now their business is taking step further as they continue to build their platform through the help of non profitable research institutes. They also collaborate with the companies that make use of their health data to help patients with their improved health products, services and care. Such services like PatientsLikeMe are very beneficial for the whole society, not just for the patients but also for health service providers and medical practitioners.
