Many people across the nation are looking for ways to get in shape and stay active. As time goes by, however, the traditional notion of “going to the gym” is getting less and less exciting, and people look for ways to further their physical activity and enjoy it more. Some people take their fitness obsession to the next level and decide to continually push themselves to the edge of their physical potential. These are the ones who come away feeling like they have achieved something, that they have proven to themselves what they are capable of.
Meet Spartan Race, the one-of-a-kind mix between triathlon, obstacle course, boot-camp, and mudbath that brings out the wild side of every participant. The Spartan Race events are not for the faint of heart and are known to leave bruises and sore muscles (as well as the feeling that you are going to die before you ever see the finish line), but for those who have trained and prepared themselves both physically and mentally, Spartan Race provides the ultimate in satisfaction and self-confidence.
The events vary and include Sprint (3-5 miles), Super (8-10 miles), Beast (12-15 miles), and finally the Death Race which is a 48 hour race. The Spartan Race Website hosts a current listing of upcoming events, their locations, and information on registration fees and parking availability. There is even a section where you can coordinate car-pooling.
The purpose of Spartan Race is to get people off of their office chairs and couches and back into the wild for a chance to push themselves to achieve something that many never will. If you feel like you are up to the challenge, or would just like to be inspired by an amazing video on their home page, head on over to SpartanRace.com.

1:30pm–2:00pm Overview of fuel cell/refueling station (OCSD Conference Room)
2:00pm–3:00pm Bus tour to fuel cell/refueling station
In August 2011, the Orange County Sanitation District opened California’s newest hydrogen fueling station—the first in the world to source hydrogen from wastewater. The Fountain Valley wastewater facility uses waste gas (produced during the water treatment process) and fuel cell technology to create electricity, heat, and hydrogen—a tri-generation system. As the stationary fuel cell generates heat and 250kW of power for facility use, it also produces 100kg of hydrogen for the vehicle fueling station operated by Air Products. Drivers are excited about the newest station in Orange County— a much-needed companion to UC Irvine’s station which opened in 2003.

Today’s world can be a very scary and dangerous place for our children. We hear stories almost daily on the news about abductions and sexual assault. For most of us, we think it will never happen to our family, or “not in our neighborhood”. Unfortunately, too many people learn the hard way that safety is not found in avoiding the problem, but in being prepared for it.
kidslivesafe.com is a website that gives you full access to records of sex offenders living around you, or in other areas you are interested in. With this powerful tool at your fingertips, you can search, map and view sex offender profiles, giving you the knowledge you need to protect your children.
In addition, it also gives you access to the NetNanny internet filter that allows you to monitor and protect your children as they use the internet. Many sexual predators try to gain a child’s trust online and from there try to meet them in person. With this smart internet filter you can help your children stay safe online and never run into the creeps that are out there.
It is always a good idea to protect your family from any threat, and these days sex offenders are one of those threats that should not be ignored. If you want to be prepared against this threat, and would like to receive updates about sex offenders living in your area, head on over to kidslivesafe.com and get signed up for their service to ensure that your kids are safer.
Factory Explosion in China Could Lead to iPad Shortages
A factory explosion responsible for many of the components of the iPad where dozens of workers where injured could also lead to a shortage in supply of Apple iPads. It could be a few months or it may never materialize.
One of the most popular and favorite videos of 2011.
This is a cover of Lady GaGa’s new song “Born This Way.” I hope you enjoy! Lots of Love, Maria
