New Fitness Craze: Spartan Race

Many people across the nation are looking for ways to get in shape and stay active.  As time goes by, however, the traditional notion of “going to the gym” is getting less and less exciting, and people look for ways to further their physical activity and enjoy it more.  Some people take their fitness obsession to the next level and decide to continually push themselves to the edge of their physical potential.  These are the ones who come away feeling like they have achieved something, that they have proven to themselves what they are capable of.

Meet Spartan Race, the one-of-a-kind mix between triathlon, obstacle course, boot-camp, and mudbath that brings out the wild side of every participant.  The Spartan Race events are not for the faint of heart and are known to leave bruises and sore muscles (as well as the feeling that you are going to die before you ever see the finish line), but for those who have trained and prepared themselves both physically and mentally, Spartan Race provides the ultimate in satisfaction and self-confidence.

The events vary and include Sprint (3-5 miles), Super (8-10 miles), Beast (12-15 miles), and finally the Death Race which is a 48 hour race.  The Spartan Race Website  hosts a current listing of upcoming events, their locations, and information on registration fees and parking availability.  There is even a section where you can coordinate car-pooling.

The purpose of Spartan Race is to get people off of their office chairs and couches and back into the wild for a chance to push themselves to achieve something that many never will.  If you feel like you are up to the challenge, or would just like to be inspired by an amazing video on their home page, head on over to SpartanRace.com.
