Standalone OTA HD DVR

Looking for a standalone OTA(over the air) HD (high definition) DVR(digital video recorder)

Don’t forget a good antenna:
Antennas Direct DB4 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna

Some resources for antennas and configuration:

There’s a few devices that we are finding on various sites.
Sony DHG-HDD500
LG LST-3410A
EchoStar TR-50
DTVPal DVR
Magnavox SD DVR DVDR
Click here for more info on the Magnavox 160GB DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner, under $250

The option I’m considering is the Philips DVR with a Digital Tuner, 160GB Drive and DVD Recorder for about $300. This is a fairly new product. I’m still researching it, but there are many good reviews. Here’s a link to the product.

TiVo’s unit is a great dual tuner HD OTA DVR but it is going to cost you around $550

From Echostar:
The TR50 will be sold as the DTVPal DVR, and will be available around Thanksgiving for a price of $299. It will be available online through DISH Network. At this time we do not have any information on whether the product will be available through retail outlets. An online information site is planned for the near future. Please check back with us as we get closer to the product launch date. Thank you for contacting EchoStar. Regards, EchoStar Sales Team

Is there no market? What percentage of people who have HDTVs don’t have satellite or cable? Based on the number of channels I watch and what is available in digital I would consider using a OTA DVR and not have cable or a dish. Let’s say the device costs $500 and I am paying $75 for a dish that doesn’t take long to pay for itself. nobody wants to be tied down to monthly payments for a service. If I can pay a onetime fee for a device why not?

What we are trying to accomplish is use the Digital OTA signal to watch tv channels on a flat screen tv, in addition is to record programs with the dvr scheduling. All with one device with no monthly fees.
Product need includes:

2 ATSC tuners to enable you to watch one show and tape another
DVR recording capability (enables pause, replay etc)
Decent outputs compatable with todays equipment

HD, DVRs, Set-top boxes, OTA
