Seagate hard drive firmware upgrade

Seagate hard drive firmware upgrade

This just in…

Seagate is admitting to a problem (euphemistically called, “an
isolated, potential firmware issue”) in about 25 hard drives models,
including the Barracuda 7200.11, Barracuda ES.2 SATA, and DiamondMax 22.

Some of these drives may be in external Seagate hard drives, such as
the FreeAgent Pro.

In some “unique circumstances,” Seagate says, “the data on the hard
drives may become inaccessible to the user when the host system is
powered on.” Swell.

You can download and install a firmware upgrade, and the quickest way
to determine if your drive needs one is to download and run Seagate’s
Drive Detect.

Emacs!
