MEET OUR SPEAKERS:

Elena Christopoulos is our current Co-President has 20 years of expertise as an Energy and Political Consultant who “walks the talk of sustainability.” In early 2000, she implemented the first urban wind turbine in North America. Located in downtown Toronto, it took more than 250 homes off the power grid. In 2013, Elena was named Toronto’s Woman of the Year for her work designing wind turbines in Canada, Greece, Germany, England, and the US. She travels between the US, Canada, and Europe working on and speaking about diverse alternative energy and clean tech projects. Elena is a strong advocate for women as a mentor, peer colleague and friend. It is her goal to increase the number of female environmental scientists from 28% to 50% over her lifetime.

Leigh Adams is an educator, artist and garden designer. She is currently Artist-in-Residence at the LA County Arboretum and is designing a one acre sustainable garden demonstrating water harvesting and low water gardening, organic desert farming and various historically successful oasis food production models. Leigh teaches mosaic art to homeless and under-served individuals on Skid Row. She feels this is a commitment to creating and supporting communities and is a reflection of the UNA’s commitment to human rights and a world that works for everyone.
